Everything Comes Back to You by Jackie Khalilieh

- Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
- Anticipated Release Date: August 4, 2026
Lennon is excited and apprehensive about starting high school, where her older sister will be a senior. Then her sister drops a bombshell: she is pregnant. Her Palestinian Canadian parents are devastated, and Lennon finds herself under even more pressure to be a “good girl” – a role autistic Lennon has always played well. But after a chance encounter with John, a white boy in the grade above, Lennon finds herself nursing a crush on someone her parents would definitely not approve of—which only seems to intrigue her more.
As Lennon and John are drawn together and pulled apart throughout her four years of high school, Lennon wrestles with feelings of shame and yearning, obedience and rebellion through the lens of her autism, trying to both please her parents and herself. When a relationship with a different boy challenges her notions of family and happiness, her way forward becomes clear, even if it might mean losing everything and everyone she loves.
You’ll Love It Here by Natalie Sue

- Genre: Contemporary
- Anticipated Release Date: August 11, 2026
One day is all it takes for Mona’s life to implode. After years of climbing at her marketing firm, she was supposed to be getting promoted and finally moving out of her crumbling apartment building. Instead, she’s jobless, aimless, and still stuck in a space barely big enough for a yoga mat.
Then her eccentric landlady takes a tumble and asks Mona to step in as the building’s reluctant super. The deal is simple: help prep the place for sale, and she can secure the upgrade she’s been chasing. But that’s easier said than done when the neighbors treat “boundaries” as optional. There’s the shouting couple, the mysterious shut-in, a possible panty thief in the laundry room—and Sami, the relentlessly cheerful diner owner who keeps showing up with coffee and unsolicited ideas about community. As Mona gets pulled deeper into the building’s chaos—and closer to the people inside it—she’s forced to confront what, and who, she’s really been trying to outrun. Sometimes, the place you’re desperate to leave is the one that finally shows you who you are.
Asha in Her Garden by Anita Rau Badami

- Genre: Contemporary
- Anticipated Release Date: August 11, 2026
Asha Mohan’s well-loved backyard garden in Montréal, shaded by a cherished old maple tree, has been witness to all the events in her life since she and her husband and children moved to Canada from India decades ago. It is here, in her sanctuary, that Asha finds refuge from her complicated family, and exchanges gossip and advice over a shared hedge with Madame Brard, her formidable business-minded next-door neighbor, who took a newly arrived Asha under her wing long ago. It is also under the magnificent tree where, on the evening of her 50th birthday, Asha was knocked unconscious by an unsavory drug-dealing acquaintance of her wayward son.
Now the maple tree has reached the end of its life and must be cut down. In the shadow of its demise, Asha finds herself remembering the attack of twenty years back and haunted by an even earlier, shocking tragedy in India, when her marriage was still young, that led her to uproot her family and leave the country of her birth. As Asha re-examines herself and her reconfigured garden in relation to her friends, her loved ones (“two children from the same body – mine – and each a complete stranger”), and the state of the world, she unearths surprising new clarity about who she is and what might be required of her now – a vision that just may transform her life.
Philippa Flynn’s Year of Panic and Piracy by Jacqueline Firkins

- Genre: Contemporary, Romance
- Anticipated Release Date: September 1, 2026
When a sinkhole nearly swallows her whole, burned-out history professor Philippa Flynn takes it as a wake-up call. Leaving her carefully planned but unfulfilling life behind, she moves into an old seaside house she inherited from her grandmother, a bestselling author of swashbuckling romances. Philippa expects the clutter, the disrepair, the proximity to the family she deliberately moved away from, and the reclusive writer she’ll be sharing the house with. She doesn’t expect that writer to also be the cover model who personified Iris Flynn’s bare-chested, cavalier-booted pirate king.
While navigating their awkward cohabitation and searching for creative inspiration, the pair discovers the outlines for six more novels they could work on together. But Philippa’s used to facts, Dylan has writer’s block, and neither can craft a love scene while real sparks are flying.
To write the story on the page, Philippa will have to embrace the one she’s living, even if it means swapping tenure for treasure maps and plans for pirate kings.
Lower City by Alex Spring

- Genre: Mystery, Thriller
- Anticipated Release Date: September 1, 2026
It is October 2025, and Hamilton, Ontario, is a city on the edge. As a trade war rages, jobs are threatened in the city’s industrial sector. Tensions are rising as fast as rent, and people are frightened and anxious as shadowy power brokers try to harness the chaos to serve their purposes, sowing division and distrust in an effort to undermine the foundations of society itself. And on a quiet street in the shadow of the Tiger Cats’ stadium, a young steelworker named Danny Clarke is nursing a broken heart and feeling adrift in a world he can’t seem to connect to.
But when the city is plunged into panic by the kidnapping of the steel company’s CFO, with Danny as the only witness, he takes it as a sign that he is meant to do something. One after the other, Hamilton’s most influential figures are abducted, and the kidnappers flood social media with harrowing images and clips of the hostages designed to go viral, making an example of the people they blame for Steeltown’s misfortune.
As paranoia and polarization take hold of the city, Danny and his two cousins, Priya and Kabir, are pulled into the mystery, racing to stop the kidnappers and protect their community. Danny realizes that it’s time to become the kind of man who steps up and takes responsibility for himself and others, rather than one who watches his own life from the sidelines. Because, as he will learn, the only way to save the day is to grow up.
The Birthing Tree by Amanda Peters

- Genre: Historical Fiction
- Anticipated Release Date: September 1, 2026
Born under the shadow of a tree sacred to generations of Indigenous women, Aliet has been brought up outside a small Nova Scotia town by her fierce, loving grandmother, Kiju. Her father remains a mystery no one will name, while her mother died under that very tree, gently held by its cradle of roots as Aliet came into the world.
But the world beyond their community is changing, and although Kiju has a wealth of wisdom to share, local women are increasingly reluctant to follow traditional birthing rituals. At the local hospital, white doctors are skeptical of Indigenous practices, and Aliet and Kiju are distraught to witness as prejudice turns to condemnation.
Decades later, Aliet is living a quiet life in the city while she grapples with a personal tragedy that has shaped her adulthood. She works as a nurse, administering modern medicine while still holding her grandmother’s teachings and stories dear, tucked beside memories of the tree that once welcomed new life. But when Kiju passes away suddenly, grief-stricken Aliet understands that she must return to the place where it is only these roots that can help her reconnect with her heritage and discover long-buried secrets about herself.
Return to Breakneck Island by Tom Ryan

- Genre: Mystery
- Anticipated Release Date: October 6, 2026
Breakneck is nestled precariously off the coast of Maple Bay; the lighthouse atop this rocky outcrop is all that stands between safe passage and nautical disaster.
For generations, the MacLeary family lived on Breakneck Island in an isolated and physically demanding existence. One night in 1932, after a ruthless storm battered all of Maple Bay, the MacLearys disappeared without a trace, leaving behind only whispers of a missing fortune.
Nearly a century later, three people are drawn to Breakneck Island and its perplexing Peter Barnett, a recent Maple Bay transplant who’s piecing his life back together and possibly catching feelings for a charming professor; Dandy Feltzen, a wistful teenage girl searching for new beginnings while juggling the arrival of an unexpected visitor; and Cass Jones, a successful author given a cryptic tip for a haunting new story.
As Peter, Dandy, and Cass are drawn into the orbit of one of Maple Bay’s darkest mysteries, dangers past and present collide on the rocky shores of Breakneck Island, and the real story of the MacLearys finally comes into focus. But if the island is to reveal its oldest secrets, it may demand fresh bodies in return.
The Christmas Curse by Alix Kelinda

- Genre: Romance, Christmas
- Anticipated Release Date: October 20, 2026
It’s the most perilous time of the year…
Devra’s family is cursed. There’s simply no other explanation for the catastrophes that have tormented them every December for the last thirty-odd years—a house fire from exploding string lights, severe burns from spilled hot cocoa, breakup after breakup, always in the lead-up to Christmas. So, she does what anyone with a family curse would do: she goes into hiding and scorns the holidays. But when Bradley, “Mr. Christmas” himself, moves in next door and ruins her perfectly un-festive space with every twinkling, shimmering, blaring decoration imaginable, Devra is certain he’s been sent by the curse to upend her quiet life.
Bradley’s days are looking up. He’s one year sober, with a new home, and what better way to celebrate his fresh start than by honoring his family’s tradition of extravagant holiday decorating. The only problem: his festive spirit has somehow offended his prickly new neighbor, sparking a feud that just might end in attempted snowman murder.
But while Devra seems hell-bent on driving Bradley away, Bradley becomes fixated on solving the riddle that is Devra. And somewhere along the way, their over-the-fence antics spark something deeper: feelings.
Except was Bradley sent by the curse? Or is he the answer to finally breaking it—once and for all?
