Happy Foodie Friday y’all! Ok, more like Foodie Friday on Sunday. Sorry about the delay in this week’s post, but the past week was a new adventure for me, and I didn’t have the time or energy to write this post. It’s here now, and we are going to enjoy this, right? Last week I shared a Cooking Gift Guide for those with a big budget. The previous list had the minimum price of $50, but several were over $100. This week I am sharing a more budget-friendly list, where the items are all under $50. Are you ready to check out the Cooking & Baking Gift Guide Budget Edition?

Cooking & Baking Gift Guide: Budget Edition

Like last week, these items may be more or less than the target price. The price will depend upon things like sales, which item you purchase, and your location.

1. Cake Carrier

I have two different cake carriers that I use. One is round, and tall enough for a basic 2 tier cake. The other is a rectangle that has a reversible insert for standard cupcakes and mini-cupcakes. I use mine to transport baked goods, but also to store them at home.

2. Silicone Baking Mats

Silicone baking mats are great, especially when baking cookies. I prefer using them instead of parchment paper when I’m baking, especially if it’s something sticky. They are easy to wash and make clean-up a breeze. You can find some that are marked with various diameters for making pie crusts or other pastries. And even the placements for cookies.

3. Apron

I will admit I don’t wear one while I’m baking. Though I’m sure, my clothes would appreciate it some days. If I had a fun one to wear, maybe I would wear one.

4. Recipe Stand

Something like this would be a welcome gift. Whether I’m using my phone, a printout, or a cookbook, it is generally laying flat on the counter, and it’s not always easy to read.

5. Recipe Journal

A recipe journal is new to me, but I like the idea after looking at a few different ones. A recipe journal is a way to keep your favorite recipes all in one place. Some even have room to share memories surrounding the recipes.

6. Real Vanilla Extract

I know this seems like a random gift idea. But have you ever looked at the price of real vanilla extract? Most people are familiar with the vanilla extract from the grocery store that is less than $5 for a 16-ounce bottle. While it works, real vanilla extract (aka pure vanilla extract) has a better taste.

7. Digital Kitchen Scale

A good digital kitchen scale is a helpful tool when you’re baking and when you’re cooking.

8. Tote Bag

Tote bags are helpful for everyone, and if you can find one special to that person’s hobbies, that’s even better.

9. Travel Mug

I don’t know about you, but I always seem to be thirsty when I’m baking. But I don’t particularly appreciate having my drink open to the air because I don’t want flour or sugar in my glass. So having a covered travel mug is great! Plus, it’s something that you can take out and about with you.

10. Unusal Baking Mixes or Ingredients

I have asked for this for the past several years for Christmas. It’s especially great when my parents would travel up to Canada from the States because they often found mixes and ingredients that aren’t available for me regularly. I have received various oils, spices, vanilla sugar, cinnamon chips, and tea in the past. For this gift idea, think outside of the box, or should I say the grocery store. If you have a store that brings in various products for the holidays they don’t usually carry, that would be a perfect place to check. Or even a small independent grocery store.

In the US and Canada, stores to look in would be TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Winners, and Homesense. They all have a small section of food year-round, and you can find a variety of ingredients your recipient may not think about getting. Products like flavored honey, various spices, drink mixes, unusual pasta shapes, and sauces can be found in the store and make a fun gift basket.

And that is a brief Cooking & Baking Gift Guide Budget Edition! Did you find anything you want to add to your holiday wish list? Is there something that I missed?

Spoiler: Next week, will be a stocking stuffers gift guide, which could be any price!

  1. I don’t bake very often, but I always use the real vanilla, what a difference it makes. Great post!
