Happy Tuesday, y’all! This week, Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl is asking us to share our bookish wishes. The problem is that I have some basic bookish wishes (more time to read, more money to buy books, etc). So, this week, I’m continuing to work my way through the alphabet. Previously, I shared a list of ten books starting with the letters A (here), B (here), C (here), D (here), and E (here). This week, the F’s have it!
Ten book titles starting with the letter F! You would think this would be an easy challenge, right? Of course, I had to make it a bit more difficult on myself! I am not including any books that are part of a series. Usually, I make this a bit harder on myself by only listing books I’ve read and enjoyed. I had to add some books I haven’t read yet, but they are on my TBR.
All titles will lead to Goodreads.
Now, let’s see if the Fs have it!
F.A.R.M System by Rich Koslowski
- Genre: Graphic Novel
- Release Date: November 2022
They’re super strong, but are they powerful enough for the big leagues? If superheroes were real, they’d be a lot like pro athletes. In this quirky graphic novel, go behind the scenes with all the heroes waiting for their big breaks.
For every hero who saves the galaxy and makes the front page, there are a dozen staffers working behind the scenes…and a hundred up-and-comers hoping to take his place. F.A.R.M. System is your ticket to the hidden world of superpowered individuals hoping to “make the Big Leagues.”
In the Farm System, having an incredible and unique power is only the first step. Guided by an army of agents, managers, and experts, recruits must undergo rigorous psychological evaluations, harassment and sensitivity seminars, marketing and endorsement workshops, and costume design meetings, all to boost their chances of recruitment into an A-list superhero team.
Some recruits make “the Bigs.” Some have fleeting moments of glory, then lose it all. Some take “Blue Cowl” gigs as superpowered bodyguards for famous actors or powerful CEOs. Some flounder in the System for years, never getting “the call.” And some find success by joining teams of a…less reputable ilk.

Fan Fiction by Brent Spiner
- Genre: Fiction, Humor
- Release Date: October 2021
- Note: I highly recommend the audiobook!
From Brent Spiner, who played the beloved Lieutenant Commander Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation, comes this hilarious autobiographical novel, a personal look at the slightly askew relationship between a celebrity and his fans. If the Coen brothers were to make a Star Trek movie about the complexity of fan obsession and sci-fi, this dark comedy might be the result.
In 1991, just as Star Trek: The Next Generation has rocketed the cast to global fame, the young and impressionable Brent Spiner receives a mysterious package and a series of disturbing letters, sending him on a terrifying and bizarre journey. Paramount Security, the LAPD, and even the FBI were eventually involved in ending the danger that has his life and career hanging in the balance.
Farm to Trouble by Amanda Flower
- Genre: Cozy Mystery

The Final Revival of Opal & Nev by Dawnie Walton
- Genre: Historical Fiction
- Release Date: March 2021
Opal is a fiercely independent young woman pushing against the grain in her style and attitude, Afro-punk, before that term existed. Coming of age in Detroit, she can’t imagine settling for a 9-to-5 job—despite her unusual looks, Opal believes she can be a star. So when the aspiring British singer/songwriter Neville Charles discovers her at a bar’s amateur night, she takes him up on his offer to make rock music together for the fledgling Rivington Records.
In early seventies New York City, just as she’s finding her niche as part of a flamboyant and funky creative scene, a rival band signed to her label brandishes a Confederate flag at a promotional concert. Opal’s bold protest and the violence that ensues set off a chain of events that will not only change the lives of those she loves but also be a deadly reminder that repercussions are always harsher for women, especially black women, who dare to speak their truth.
Decades later, as Opal considers a 2016 reunion with Nev, music journalist S. Sunny Shelton seizes the chance to curate an oral history about her idols. Sunny thought she knew most of the stories leading up to the cult duo’s most politicized chapter. But as her interviews dig deeper, a nasty new allegation from an unexpected source threatens to blow up everything.
First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones
- Genre: Paranormal, Mystery, Romance

Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an entity who has been following her all her life…and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely. But what does he want with Charley? And why can’t she seem to resist him? And what does she have to lose by giving in?
The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews
- Genre: Romance, Southern Contemporary
- Release Date: June 2009
After her boss in a high-powered Washington public relations firm is caught in a political scandal, fledgling lobbyist Dempsey Jo Killebrew is left almost broke, unemployed, and homeless. Out of options, she reluctantly accepts her father’s offer to help refurbish Birdsong, the old family place he recently inherited in Guthrie, Georgia. All it will take, he tells her, is a little paint and some TLC to turn the fading Victorian mansion into a real-estate cash cow.
But, oh, is Dempsey in for a surprise when she arrives in Guthrie. “Bird Droppings” would more aptly describe the moldering Pepto Bismol–pink dump with duct-taped windows and a driveway full of junk. There’s also a murderously grumpy old lady, one of Dempsey’s distant relations, who has claimed squatter’s rights and isn’t moving out. Ever.
Furthermore, everyone in Guthrie seems to know Dempsey’s business, from a smooth-talking real-estate agent to a cute lawyer who owns the local newspaper. It wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the pesky FBI agents who show up on Dempsey’s doorstep, hoping to pry information about her ex-boss from her.
All Dempsey can do is roll up her sleeves and get to work. And before long, what started as a job of necessity somehow becomes a labor of love and, ultimately, a journey that takes her to a place she never expected—back home again.

- Genre: Historical Fiction

That is a list of ten book titles starting with the letter F. Have you read any of these? Do you think the F’s have it? Are there any you think I should read? Should I do another post like this with other letters of the alphabet?

This is so fun. 🙂
I love the Charley Davidson series so it’s fun to see it in your list!
Charley is such a fun character! I love her sass.
Pam
The baking romances seems fun and cute
I’ve been meaning to read the Charley Davidson series for a while now, they always sound so much fun!
They are fun! I hope you give them a chance.
Pam
I love this idea!
Good topic idea!
What a fun idea. I was off topic today, too. I don’t think I could name ten books by any letter of the alphabet without a lot of help!
Thankfully that’s where Goodreads comes in handy! I loved your post about your trip. It looked like you had lots of fun.
Pam
I think I have only done this once, with “a.” I still think it’s a great idea and perfect for when we want to go off topic. Have a great week!
A little confused on the Scrooge one — Marley was dead! As dead a doorknob! Mind, I wouldn’t think a doorknob to be the deadest bit of ironmongery in the trade…
Thanks for reminding me of Fan Fiction. It was on my radar and got crowded out. The Farm system book sounds fun — combining superheroes and the baseball farm system!
For Butter or Worse looks so cute! I am not sure I could do this for all the alphabet so very impressive that you are to F’s already!!
Ooh fun topic choice! The only one I know is the Charley Davidson one! This is a fun idea I need to remember for the next freebie choice! Great picks!
Thanks for visiting my TTT!
These look like fun picks! My “Favorite F Books” would have to include Suzanne Palmer’s FINDER if I was doing this post today. Back when I did this post myself, I used a couple of older “F” titles that I haven’t read in a long time now. Not sure if they would still make a favorites list.
I went rogue this week: https://bookwyrmknits.com/2024/06/11/top-ten-tuesday-free-short-fiction-11/
I’ve seen Mary Kay Andrew’s books various places and on lists quite a lot, but never read one. Someday maybe I need to look into them. 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting my website today.
I wasn’t wild about FARM TO TROUBLE, but I do really like the author’s Amish Candy Shop cozy series. It’s lots of fun!
Happy TTT!

This is a great list, and I always look forward to your alphabetical lists because it expands my TBR. This week you’ve added The Final Revival of Opal and Nev and The Free to my list. Thanks!
I’m always happy to help add to your TBR, Leah!
Pam
Fake It was one I enjoyed from your list. I think the author has another title I haven’t gotten to yet. Thanks for sharing!
Alicia, she has another one in the same universe (?) as Fake It coming out later this year. I’m looking forward to reading it.
Pam
I’d love to read the book by Brent Spiner!
