Happy Tuesday, y’all! This week, Jana, over at That Artsy Reader Girl, asks us to share our bookish discoveries of 2025. Instead, I decided to share my 2025 Reading Google Map. Who wants to see where I traveled in 2025 through books?

It feels funny to write a book-related post without mentioning any books! Instead, I’m sharing where I traveled through my reading in 2024. I have started my 2025 Google Maps and hope to travel more diversely than in 2024. Previously, I shared my 2023 Reading Google Map (find it here) and my 2024 map (here). In my 2023 post, I shared the steps of creating my reading maps if anyone is curious.
Overall 2025 Reading Google Map
Below is a screenshot of the entire map. All of those blue pins are where I traveled in 202. There are 114 pins in total on this map.

Sadly, I didn’t make any stops in South America, yet again! I would also like to read books set in other parts of Europe, Asia, and definitely Africa.
North American Stops
This year, I only made one stop in Alaska and none in Hawaii. But I did have a couple of stops in the Caribbean.

I managed to get a few clusters in the Pacific Northwest (five stops), Southern California (seven stops), Toronto (six stops), and NYC (eight stops).
European Stops
The UK is still a popular stopping point for me, with a total of 22 stops.

I made six stops in the Nordics, including one above the Arctic Circle. Surprisingly, I only went to France twice. But that may have something to do with my cutting back on WWII books.
African Stops
Yay, I finally made a stop in Africa on my reading journey. It’s been a few years. I’m hoping for a few more this year.

Asian Stops
I made a total of four stops in Asia in 2025. Sadly, all four were in one country. But only two were related to manga I read.

Of the four stops in Japan, one was in Tokyo and another in Hiroshima.
Oceania Stops
Sad to say, I only made a couple of stops down in Oceania. It’s another area of the world I seem to struggle with.

I feel guilty about the one in New Zealand because it’s where the author of a graphic novel I read is from.
And that’s my 2025 Reading Google Map. Let me know if you want further instructions on creating your reading map. Have you ever made a reading map using Google Maps or any other map? Would you ever do this?

I’d love to know how you did this, and I’d be happy to suggest books set in my part of the world (Oceania)
Thanks for sharing your #TTT
I loved seeing your maps! I do maps too, highlighting the country, but not the town. I may need to do that. If you enjoy cozy mysteries you might try the Tannie Maria series by Sally Andrew from South Africa.
Thank you for the recommendation!
I LOVE this idea! I have not seen this done before and now I want to keep track myself! Thanks for sharing! My TTT https://www.ihopeyoudanceinlife.com/2026/01/authors-i-discovered-in-2025.html
I absolutely love this idea! Can I borrow it? Here’s my TTT: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2026/01/27/top-ten-tuesday-most-anticipated-book-releases-of-2026/
I hope you do. It’s a fun way to see where all of the books I’ve read are set.
Love this idea! I might have to do this too!
I love this idea but have no idea how to do it! I’d love some ideas on how to get started. Congrats on hitting so many locations:-)
This is such a cool thing to track!
This is the coolest idea! I may have to try this …
This is such a cool idea! I love how you’ve mapped it out for us 😉. Are you tracking where the author is from or where the books are set?
If you’d like to visit, here’s my TTT: https://thebooklorefairyreads.wordpress.com/2026/01/26/top-ten-tuesday-bookish-discoveries-i-made-in-2025/
For fiction books, I try to put where the book is set, or as close to it as I can. That can be tricky with some books, especially cozy fantasy. For nonfiction books, I’ll either mark where the story is set (if it’s in a specific location) or where the author is from.
This is such a cool idea! It makes me wonder what my own reading google map would look like but tbh, I might find it a little too embarrassing because it’d probably skew heavily to the West. It’s a great way to keep yourself accountable if you’re trying to read more diversely though! 😃
Looks like you traveled far and wide!
That’s a cool way to visualize what you’ve read.
I love seeing this from readers! I track mine in a notebook arranged by country or US state. I’ve started tracking Canadian Provinces and Australian states, too.
I love this! I want to make a map with all the books I’ve traveled to. I keep track on my blog under the challenges for Literary Escapes and European Reading Challenges. I like this better.
This is SUCH a FUN idea!
Very cool! I use a different map for my bookish travels, that I share with every monthly wrap up.
Oh, this is really cool to see! You make me tempted to give it a shot too, but it’d be so time consuming to do last year’s books… maybe I’ll do it as I go along this year!
Do you count just the main setting of the books, or places the characters go to in general? Or just the place the author comes from?
Typically, the pin goes where the book is set. If there’s a lot of traveling, then I tend to mark where the majority of the book is set. Like last year I read Beth O’Leary’s Swept Away. Most of the story is set on a boat in the North Sea. So the pin went in the North Sea. If there’s no setting that I can see, then the pin will typically go where the author is from.
Oh wow, I love your map! I’m tempted to do that with my reading this year because I’m reading Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey-Maturin series, and the characters are sailors so they go all over the world.
I love this! I got my partner to do my one in 2024. I shall have to see if he can do it again this year. The majority of books I believe will be in the UK despite my best efforts to diversify my reading!
Have a great week!
Even if a lot are in the UK, it’s still interesting to see how they’re spread out. Are they all in the London area? Or have you traveled the whole country?
I have gone to a few different places, but the majority are in London. It’s strange because I try to read different genres and go on Blog Tours for all sorts of authors 🤣
Looks like you visited some really cool places. 🙂 Hope you discover more in 2026!
So far this year, I’ve been from Ottawa to the Norway to Minnepolis to Quebec. LOL! It’s been an interesting year so far.
What a fun idea!
I started tracking where my books are set a couple of years ago, but I am not great at keeping up with it. I don’t think I updated it very much at all in 2025.
I love this! Such a cool idea. I think you’d have visited many more places than I did, I feel like my books are mostly Australia, where I live and North America. Something to think about.
This is such a cool idea!! Way to visit so many places and thanks for the amazing visuals.
Such a cool idea!
I love bookish travel, Pam. In 2026, I visited every state, province and territory in North America. I also visited 53 different countries. I was going to do a map, but ended up just doing a list. You did very well with your armchair travel.
I would love to do a “Reading Google Map” – I did Google it and received information on how to read a Google Map. lol
Impressed by the New Zealand pin and totally okay says this New Zealander that the graphic novel you read is where the author comes from.
Glad to know that it’s ok.
Fun post! Do I spot Belgium? I live there so I’m curious which book that might be.
It was a Christmas book I read that was set just across the border in Lille, France. Though the main character did spend a day in Belgium.
This is such a fun idea!
This is so much fun! I remember making a Google map a long time ago of all my around the world reads, but I have not updated it in a long, long time.
This is a so neat! I love that you actually have the pins placed.
I love this! If you’re looking for recommendations, read The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo set in Malaysia!! It’s one of my favorite books written by a fellow Malaysian and I love to support Malaysian authors as much as possible!

Thank you for the recommendation. I’ll have to check it out.
What a neat idea! I like it. I’ll have to keep track of it this year.
That’s a really great idea and I love the maps! I’ve tracked my book locations on a heatmap, but it doesn’t break down the area as precisely as yours.
How fun! It’s always interesting to take a look at places books are set. I hope you are able to explore the world more this year.
This is such a great idea! I’m going to check out your 2023 post to learn how you made yours–maybe I’ll try it this year!
This is such a fun way to track your reading! And do I spy a book set in Belgium (my home country)? So nice! 🙂
I love this concept of mapping your reading! So fun. My ttt list is here if interested 🙂 https://theparteveryoneskips.com/posts/20260201-ttt-new-authors-in-2025/
