It’s another month with a completed TBR, so I should celebrate. I also knocked off a few books from my Spring TBR, which you can find here.
My favorite read in June? The only five-star read I had in June was The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians. Reading that made me want to pursue my MLIS. It’s something I’ve been debating for ages. Maybe this is the sign I need to do it already! I also had some 4.5-star reads that I think others would enjoy. Those are A Most Puzzling Murder, The Ripple Effect, Warrior Girl Unearthed, and A Good Day for Chardonnay.
Unfortunately, there were a couple of DNFs. I found myself bored with The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. It was a book I so wanted to love, between the cover and the reviews I’d read. But it just didn’t work for me. The Good Part by Sophie Cousens seemed to be dragging. I’ve read a couple of Cousens’ other books and loved them, so I was taken aback by the pacing of this one—that and the fact that Lucy is so insufferable. Ah, well, they can’t all be winners.
July TBR
- The Fort by Christy K. Lee
- Valentine in Montreal by Heather O’Neill and Arizona O’Neill
- Icing on the Murder by Valerie Burns
- Savvy Summers and the Sweet Potato Crimes by Sandra Jackson-Opoku
June Blog Wrap-Up & July Plans
In June, I wrote and published 11 posts. I stumbled a bit with my goals and planning for posts. There were weekly reviews, and the same with Top Ten Tuesday posts. My monthly wrap-up and TBR shelf clean-up were also there.
My Summer 2025 TBR was the most popular post of the 11 I published. In July 2024, I wrote a post about the app Too Good To Go, which was also my most popular post overall in June.
I hope to be better in July. There will be four reviews and five TTT posts. I’ve also got a cookbook review in the works. If only I had the motivation, I could try out the recipes. I do hope to have the review up in the next week or so. I also have a few other posts planned. Fingers crossed, I can get those written.
Personal Stuff
June wasn’t so chaotic, which is nice. School is done, vacations are coming. Oh, and we’re also planning our summer vacation for 2026! Now, if only I could get everyone to read the email I’ve sent, so we can all sit and discuss. I’m not sure why I expected planning an international trip for up to six people wouldn’t be difficult.
My daughter applied for a craft fair in the fall, and she received confirmation on Friday that she was accepted. Now she has just over three months to make her products, and not drive my husband and me insane! Wish us luck.
That’s my June 2025 in a nutshell. How was your June? Did you read any good books? What are your plans for July and the summer overall?

Kudos to your daughter getting in the craft fair! Hopefully the making goes smoothly 🙂
I had a fairly good June of reading as well, with my top book being Swordheart by T Kingfisher
Best of luck to your daughter on the craft fair, and you for planning a multi-household international travel! I love traveling, but I’m lucky that it’s usually only me and Mr. Wyrm that I need to plan for. The few times we’ve added other people to our plans it has gotten exponentially more difficult.
It’s looking more and more like it will be just the 3 of us that currently live in our house. Though I would love to take my mom, as a thank you for the trip she took me on last year to Alaska.
I hope you can make it work out!
