Happy Tuesday, y’all! This week, Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl is asking us to share our bookish goals for 2026. They can be bookish, blogging, personal, or any combination of those. After thinking it over and looking over previous lists, I’ve realized my goals are almost always the same. Drive more traffic to my blog, read more owned books, and lose weight. So instead, I decided to share the 2026 edition of 12 books I hope to read in 2026.

How did I decide which 12 books I’m reading in 2026? I let Goodreads decide. I have books I owned marked, which made this much easier. I then flipped the search to random, and then scrolled until I had 12 books I own. A couple of these I didn’t realize I own. All titles are linked to Goodreads.
Now, let’s see what the 2026 edition of 12 books I hope to read in 2026 looks like.
My Roommate Is a Vampire by Jenna Levine

- Genre: Paranormal Romance
- Release Date: August 2023
Cassie Greenberg loves being an artist, but it’s a tough way to make a living. On the brink of eviction, she’s desperate when she finds a too-good-to-be-true apartment in a beautiful Chicago neighborhood. Cassie knows there has to be a catch—only someone with a secret to hide would rent out a room for that price.
Of course, her new roommate, Frederick J. Fitzwilliam, is far from normal. He sleeps all day, is out at night on business, and talks like he walked out of a regency romance novel. He also leaves Cassie heart-melting notes around the apartment, cares about her art, and asks about her day. And he doesn’t look half bad shirtless, on the rare occasions they’re both home and awake. But when Cassie finds bags of blood in the fridge that definitely weren’t there earlier, Frederick has to come clean…
Cassie’s sexy new roommate is a vampire. And he has a proposition for her.

At the dawn of their adolescence, on the eve of the summer solstice, four young girls–Helena, Leonie, Niamh, and Elle–took the oath to join Her Majesty’s Royal Coven, established by Queen Elizabeth I as a covert government department. Now, decades later, the witch community is still reeling from a civil war, and Helena is now the reigning High Priestess of the organization. Yet Helena is the only one of her friend group still enmeshed in HMRC’s stale bureaucracy. Elle is trying to pretend she’s a normal housewife, and Niamh has become a country vet, using her powers to heal sick animals. In what Helena perceives as the deepest betrayal, Leonie has defected to start her own more inclusive and intersectional coven, Diaspora. And now Helena has a bigger problem. A young warlock of extraordinary capabilities has been captured by authorities and seems to threaten the very existence of HMRC. With conflicting beliefs over the best course of action, the four friends must decide where their loyalties lie: with preserving tradition or doing what is right.

- Genre: Historical Fiction, Mystery
- Release Date: August 2023
Winter 1940: With soldiers parading down the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Nazi flags dangling from the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower defaced with German propaganda, Parisians have little to celebrate as Christmas approaches. Police Inspector Henri Lefort’s wishes for a quiet holiday season are dashed when the Gestapo orders him to investigate the disappearance of Dr. Viktor Brandt, a neurologist involved in a secret project at one of Paris’s hospitals.
Being forced onto a missing persons case for the enemy doesn’t deter Henri from conducting his real job. A Frenchman has been beaten to death in what appears to be a botched burglary, and catching a killer is more important than locating a wayward scientist. But when Henri learns that the victim’s brother is a doctor who worked at the same hospital as the missing German, his investigation takes a disturbing turn.
Uncovering a relationship between the two men―one that would not be tolerated by the Third Reich―Henri must tread carefully. And when he discovers that Dr. Brandt’s experimental work is connected to groups of children being taken from orphanages, Henri risks bringing the wrath of both the SS and the Gestapo upon himself and everyone he loves.

That Juno Dawson book is somewhere on my TBR as well, but clearly it’s not a priority to me as it has been on there for long and it’s not top of mind.

The hockey one sounds good!! Hope you enjoy as many of these as you get to!
Excellent way to compile a list! Good luck!
I love this idea! The Case of the Christie Conspiracy looks so good! I hope you’ll be able to read all these books this year 😊. Thanks for visiting my blog!
Look like there are some fun reads here! I have a nasty habit of putting hard books on these lists and then never getting to them (hence why I just didn’t make one this year), so it’s nice to see a list that seems quite realistic.
I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for my physical reads in 2026 so maybe I’ll configure it the same way as you did on Goodreads! I’ve only read Levine’s book but I had fun with it and I’m keen to continue the other vampire books she has out. I hope you enjoy all these books, Pam 🙂 Happy reading!
