Happy Tuesday, y’all! This week, Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl is asking us to share books we’re afraid we won’t love as much if we re-read them. There’s one problem with that for me. I don’t reread books! I mean, when I was younger I did. But that was more out of necessity than anything. Now, I’ve got a TBR that’s a mile long and no time to give to a previous book no matter how much I loved it at the time. So instead, this week I’m continuing to work my way through the alphabet. Previously, I shared a list of ten books starting with the letter A (check it out here) and B (here). This week the C’s have it!
Ten book titles starting with the letter C! You would think this would be an easy challenge, right? Of course, I had to make it a bit more difficult on myself! I am not including any books that are part of a series. Another way I made this a bit harder on myself I’m only listing books I’ve read and enjoyed!
All titles will lead to Goodreads.
Now let’s see if the C’s have it!
Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler
- Genre: Historical Fiction, Dual Time Line
- Release Date: April 2012
Eighty-nine-year-old Isabelle McAllister has a favor to ask her hairdresser Dorrie Curtis. It’s a big one. Isabelle wants Dorrie, a black single mom in her thirties, to drop everything to drive her from her home in Arlington, Texas, to a funeral in Cincinnati. With no clear explanation why. Tomorrow.
Dorrie, fleeing problems of her own and curious whether she can unlock the secrets of Isabelle’s guarded past, scarcely hesitates before agreeing, not knowing it will be a journey that changes both their lives.
Over the years, Dorrie and Isabelle have developed more than just a business relationship. They are friends. But Dorrie, fretting over the new man in her life and her teenage son’s irresponsible choices, still wonders why Isabelle chose her.
Isabelle confesses that, as a willful teen in 1930s Kentucky, she fell deeply in love with Robert Prewitt, a would-be doctor and the black son of her family’s housekeeper – in a town where blacks weren’t allowed after dark. The tale of their forbidden relationship and its tragic consequences makes it clear Dorrie and Isabelle are headed for a gathering of the utmost importance and that the history of Isabelle’s first and greatest love just might help Dorrie find her own way.

As they chat, Al playfully challenges Lou to show him the best of Milwaukee and she’s game—but only if they never discuss work, which Al readily agrees to. And that is a list of ten book titles starting with the letter C. Have you read any of these? Do you think the C’s have it? Are there any you think I should read? Should I do another post like this with other letters of the alphabet?

Now, come on. As a keen baker I bet you read recipe books more than once. Seriously though, I’m with you. I can’t remember the last book I reread. Too tempted by new ones.
LOL! Typically, I do read a cookbook like a novel the first time through. After that, I will go back through and look more closely at the recipes that grabbed my attention.
I reread books a lot less often than I used to as well. There are just so many new books to explore! I’ve been wanting to read The Christie Affair.
Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday post: https://thissideofstoryland.blogspot.com/2024/03/top-ten-tuesday-books-im-worried-i.html
I’m not much of a re-reader either. I don’t have time for that when there are so many new books to read!
I’ve read a few of these books. CALLING ME HOME is one I especially enjoyed and I don’t see it talked about much. I’m glad you also liked it.
Happy TTT!

I remember The Chocolate Touch! I think I had to read it for school
I need to remember this topic when I am struggling (Like I was for a topic for today!). Great idea and list! Have a great week!
You’re welcome for the idea, Cindy!
You still found a lot of titles with a C! Canadian Boyfriend looks like a fun read 🙂
I loved Cards on the Table and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
I love this idea so much! There are so many repeat prompts these days, and I’m not that interested in some of them the first time around, let alone the tenth! I may very well steal your idea the next time I’m supposed to come up with book quotes or yet another list of books that have been on my TBR the longest!
I loved The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper. Delightful. And Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Great one. Gotta love anything that starts with “Canadian” plus I remember movies always having unpopular kids make up a girl/boyfriend from Canada, so that one made me giggle! Thanks for the list – and the idea!
You’re welcome!
Ooooh! I’ve been wanting to read Canadian Boyfriend but I totally forgot about it. Thanks for bringing it back on my radar!
And I agree with Cindy! This is such a great go-to topic when I’m struggling on the prompts. Next time I’ll know what to do. Thanks for the great ideas!

I’m glad I could remind you about it Haze! And you are welcome for the ideas.
I had forgotten about The Chocolate Touch! That brings back memories of grade school.
My TTT this week: https://bookwyrmknits.com/2024/03/12/top-ten-tuesday-books-im-nervous-to-re-read/
I loved The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper and or course Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a classic. I recently listened to The Christie Affair which I really enjoyed. I’m very intrigued by the title The Coincidence of Coconut Cake. It sounds like a book Alexander McCall Smith would write!
Canadian Boyfriend cover is so cute <3 Charlie and the Chocolate was one of my favorites when i was younger
The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper has such a fun sounding title. I haven’t read it, but it does catch my attention.
It’s an interesting story of a many learning more about his wife.
I only read Charlie from your list but now I have many more on my TBR from here … plus, I can’t stop rereading books, so the TBR keeps growing longer during those rereading times 🙂
My post is here
I’ve been wanting to read The Christie Affair! The only books I’ve read from your list are Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper. Good list!
Cards on the Table is one of the (too many) Christie’s I still need to read.
Jenny’s book looks really cute and fun! And one of these days I MUST read a novel by Agatha Christie. 😉 Thanks so much for visiting my website this week.
What a varied list you came up with! I love all the different types of books, and how you challenged yourself to come up with only books starting with a C. I don’t think I could have come up with ten titles! I seriously do need to get on top of reading an Agatha Christie book already.
I never used to reread books. However, in recent years I have changed. I think I’ve read too many recent publications that were either just meh or were huge disappointments. I don’t feel disappointed with rereads.
What a fun list. I’ve read a couple of these but more of them are new to me.
I haven’t read any of these, but I’m intrigued with The Canadian Boyfriend!
It’s an interesting romance.
Wow!! I haven’t read any of these!! Great list
Man, I really need to find more time to read Christie’s work. She wrote so much! I don’t even know the one you included on this list (wasn’t much of a Poirot fan, so I’ve only read… I think one?). Fun list!
