Hey, y’all! How was your August? Mine wasn’t too terrible. We got to take a long weekend trip to the Toronto area. I might write a post about that and share a few pictures; I’ll have to see if I can find the time and energy. There was also some book shopping over that long weekend, but I haven’t shared my haul yet. I am so terrible about things like that! As for my actual reading, it wasn’t great, nor was it awful! So let’s get to what we’re all here for my reading wrap up August 2022 edition!

Reading Wrap Up August 2022

Reading Wrap-Up August 2022

I read four of the six books on the TBR I listed in my July Wrap-up. Of the two I didn’t read, one was an ARC I ended up DNFing, and the other was for a challenge. The other book I read was an audiobook I started in May. Overall, it was not a terrible reading month. But I have been feeling a bit blah about my reading recently, more so because I’ve been tired than anything else. Hopefully, September can be a bit better.

A Brief Description of What I Read in August 2022

In Too Steep: The second book in the Misty Bay Tearoom series by Kate Kingsbury, In Too Steep continues to follow Vivian Wainwright, the owner of a British-style tea room in coastal Oregon. When the body of a local beachcomber is discovered, Vivian notices something in a photo in the local paper that leads her on a mission. How did the item end up in his possession? Who gave it to him? How did a tiny treasure end up inside it? For a full review, click here.

The Rose Code: The story follows three women and their time in Bletchly Park during World War II. A mix of mystery and romance, this historical fiction looks into the women’s war.

Die Around Sundown: In the first in a new historical mystery series, Die Around Sundown by Mark Pryor, readers will travel to Paris post-German invasion and meet police detective Henri Lefort as he tries to solve a murder with a five-day deadline or else! For a full review, click here.

We Are the Troopers: We Are the Troopers is Stephen Guinan’s debut release about the women of America’s winningest professional football team. Readers will learn about the women of the winningest professional football team and the men behind the team. All this knowledge, with Toledo, Ohio, in the 1970s as the backdrop. Two Parts Sugar, One Part Murder: Two Parts Sugar, One Part Murder by Valerie Burns is the first book in a new cozy mystery series. It takes readers to New Bison, Michigan, and introduces readers to Madison Montgomery and an English Mastiff named Baby. After being left at the altar, Madison finds herself on her way to Michigan to lick her wounds and to receive an inheritance from a family member she barely knew. But with something funny going on, who can she trust other than a giant dog? For a full review, click here.

September TBR

I have three ARCs to read for September, plus my two reading challenges. One is Read Christie 2022 from the Official Agatha Christie website, and the other is a Buzzwords Challenge from Kayla over at Books and Lala. I’m unsure what book I’ll be reading for the Christie challenge as I don’t have easy access to this month’s pick, and I’ve read two of the suggested alternates. Fingers crossed, I get everything read that I want to read.

And that is my Reading Wrap up for August 2022 and a small sample of my September TBR. How was your reading in August? What’s on your September TBR?

  1. I just finished The Matchmakers Gift about an hour ago, and I really enjoyed it. I would love to see photos of your trip to Toronto.

  2. I had a tough time with Bookish People as well. I enjoy visiting Toronto, but haven’t been since the pandemic started. Have a great September, Pam.
