The Part of Your World series is the second trilogy by best-selling author Abby Jimenez. The series began in 2022 with Part of Your World and concluded in 2024 with Just for the Summer. Jimenez continues to write romances that read more like contemporaries.

Part of Your World (Book 1)

Synopsis from Goodreads

After a wild bet, a gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and a cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

My Thoughts

CW/TW: infidelity, emotional abuse

Alexis and Daniel are opposites, yet they are drawn to each other. There are struggles due to their different upbringings and lifestyles. Yet they make it work together.

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez (Book 2)

Synopsis from Goodreads

Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter.

And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likable guy who’s terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her “sob closet,” and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses. But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor . . especially when he calls in a favor she can’t refuse.

My Thoughts

CW/TW: illness, depression, anxiety

Again, Jimenez gives us realistic characters. Briana’s divorce is almost official. Her brother is ill, both physically and mentally. Jacob is an ER doctor riddled with anxiety. They find themselves communicating through notes and letters.

While the ending is a tad unrealistic, in my opinion, that doesn’t mean the story is.

Just for the Summer (Book 3)

Synopsis from Goodreads

Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it’s now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They’ll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Emma hadn’t planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.

It’s supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma’s toxic mother shows up, and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they’re suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected–including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time, Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

My Thoughts

CW/TW: emotional abuse, parental neglect, mental health

I love how Justin and Emma come together. How many people would think to connect with someone on Reddit? The relationship between Emma and her mother is a difficult one, and has been for all of Emma’s life. Learning about that relationship, readers gain a better understanding of Emma’s life choices. Thank goodness she has people like Maddie and Justin in her life!

Series Thoughts

Like her other series, this one can be read as a standalone. Also, like her other series, the books in this one have Easter eggs back to previous books. These Easter eggs may be obvious, like Briana appearing in the first book and, in the second, as Alexis’s best friend with her own book. There are even a few Easter eggs from Jimenez’s first series, The Friend Zone.

Jimenez has a way of writing characters that are flawed and so realistic. It is easy to believe there are people in the world with the habits, beliefs, and struggles of the characters found throughout these books.

So often, you will find Jimenez’s books classified as romances. The thing is, I feel these are more contemporary with romantic side stories, almost like the romance is a side quest for the characters.

Honestly, I feel you can’t go wrong with any of Abby Jimenez’s books! Have you read the Part of Your World series? What did you think of the books individually, and as a whole series?

  1. Great thoughts! Abby Jimenez is an author that I’ve been meaning to read more of (I say this every year) and then I just never get around to picking up her books. I think it’s more the hype that scares me away because I want so bad to love them but I worry that I won’t (even though I’m sure I will)! 🤭 It’s the same problem I have with Emily Henry’s books, lol. They’re all still on my TBR! You’ve made me excited to check out this series though, so maybe 2026 will be the year!

    1. I understand the worry, because I often have the same feelings. All of Abby Jimenez’s books have been great reads. I love that she writes real people, does that make any sense? Her characters are flawed, but not in a way that makes you not like them–unless you’re supposed to. LOL!
