Happy New Year, y’all! It’s hard to believe this is the first few days of 2025. Some good things happened last year, like my trip to Alaska with my mom. Today’s tag is about setting goals for 2025 and looking back at my reading in 2024. I found the New Year’s Book Tag at Read All The Things.

New Year's Book Tag-2025 Edition

The original New Year’s Book Tag was created in 2019, so I have updated some questions. I did this tag in 2021(you can check my answers here) and 2022 (you can find my answers here).

Now, let’s do this New Year’s Book Tag-2025 Edition!

How many books did you read in 2024? How many books are you planning to read in 2025?

My book goal in 2024 was 52 books. In the end, I read 95. My goal for 2025 is 52 again. I’m sure I’ll smash it like I have the past couple of years, but if I don’t, that’s ok too.

Six books you will make a priority in 2025?

All titles below will take you to Goodreads. A couple of these books have been on my TBR for a while. Two are the second book in their respective series, and I hope to finish them this year.

The Siren by Katherine St. John

A Good Day for Chardonnay by Darynda Jones

Forever and a Day by Anthony Horowitz

Angel of Greenwood by Randi Pink

What genre do you want to read more of in 2025?

I’ve started dabbling in horror recently—nothing too horrific, mind you. But I have read a few books that are classified as horror, and I’ve enjoyed them. I wouldn’t say no to more, but I’m still not reading King.

Three non-book-related goals for 2025?

Before Christmas, I shared ten things I would like to achieve in 2025. You can see the whole list here. But I will share my top three goals here.

  1. Monthly Dates with My Husband. Our schedules don’t always line up, so we don’t always get to see each other. And our girls are older now (22 and almost 17), so they can do without us for a few hours, right?
  2. Healthier Lifestyle. I know everyone says they want to lose weight, and I do, but it’s more than that. In recent years, I’ve found myself getting depressed about myself and what I see in the mirror. Obviously, that means I want to lose weight, but I also want to be healthier and make healthier choices. I know the big results won’t happen overnight, and I must forgive myself if I make mistakes.
  3. Monthly Dates with Myself. I feel this goal complements the one above. Over the past twenty-plus years, I’ve kind of forgotten who I am and what I like to do. Besides being someone’s wife or mother, who am I? I don’t want to stop being those things, but I want to figure out who I am and what I like to do. I think doing those things will also help me find a healthier lifestyle.

A book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?

I’ve owned Looking for Me by Beth Hoffman for a while but haven’t read it yet. It’s been on my TBR since January 2020. But the book that’s been on my TBR the longest is Palisades Park by Alan Brennert. I added it in February 2017. I’ve almost picked it up a couple of times, but I just haven’t pulled the trigger for some reason. Have you read either of these? Do you think I should read or pass them by?

One word to describe your 2024? One word to describe your dreams for 2025?

My word for 2024 has to be WORRY. My youngest has had a medical complaint for a while, and while investigating that issue, we discovered a different one. We are still working through everything and hope to start getting answers soon.

My word for 2025 is ADVENTURE. Or maybe it should be JOURNEY. Why those words? Because in 2025, I want to learn more about myself. And if that doesn’t sound like an adventure or journey, I don’t know what is.

And that is the New Year’s Book Tag: 2025 edition! What do you think of my plans for the coming year? What are some of your plans for 2025? Let me know in the comments below.
