Happy Thursday, everyone! I was feeling stumped for a tag idea for this week. I’ve been feeling a bit down the past couple of days. So I put my headphones on and found a perfect playlist on Spotify. It’s called Raised on Country, and it contains songs from the 1940s-1990s. It’s helped me feel a bit closer to my dad, who passes away in April, as many of the earlier songs are ones he loved. I came up with this Bookish Memories tag to help me remember the good things in my life.

Bookish Memories: A Get to Know Me Book Tag

A Book From Your Childhood

Growing up, I had a bookshelf in my room full of my parents’ books from when they were younger. My mom had Trixie Belden books, and my dad has some based on a tv show from the 1950s. I think I read just about every book on that shelf before I graduated high school.

A Book That Reminds You of Your Parents

It’s not a book but an author. My dad had a special collection of Louis L’Amour books. They were all bound in brown leather with gold foil writing. There was no cover art, just the foil on the leather. I believe he had gotten them as part of a subscription service, kind of like the old school Columbia House records, where he got one or two a month. I never read the books, but they were his special books.

A Book That Reminds You of Your Best Friend

My best friend, AKA my husband, always read Piers Anthony or Terry Pratchett when we were dating. He needed something to keep himself busy when he was flying to see me. I think they were books that he read when he was younger, and they were his easy comfort reads. And he’s always excited when he finds one he hasn’t read.

A Book That Reminds You of Your Significant Other

Ok, this is probably cheating as my significant other is also my husband, and that means I’m thinking of more books for him. I remember when The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy came out as a movie. He was so excited; I think even more than he was over the Star Wars prequel trilogy. I did try reading the book a couple of years ago, but I couldn’t do it. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the movie.

A Book That Reminds You of The Past Summer

Summer 2020 is kind of a haze. I worked through most of it, so there wasn’t a lot of time for reading. But I think the best book I read last summer was The War Bride’s Scrapbook by Caroline Preston. The book was easy to read, as it was written just like a scrapbook. The author told the story through assorted memorabilia, such as ticket stubs, receipts, and newspaper headlines.

First & Last Book On Your TBR Alphabetically

The first book on my TBR alphabetically is The A.B.C Murders by Agatha Christie. I love reading Agatha Christie; I have several of her books on my TBR.

The last book is Yours is the Night by Amanda Dykes. I recently added this one after seeing it mentioned on several book blogs.

First & Last Book On Your TBR by Date

The book that has been on my TBR the longest is Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. I added this book back in 2012. I used to have a copy of it, but I’m not sure what happened to it. I may or may not read this at some point in the future.

The most recent addition to my TBR is A Good Day for Chardonnay by Darynda Jones. I’m currently listening to A Bad Day for Sunshine and already know I want to read the next book in the series.

What are some of your bookish memories? What is on your TBR?
