My Opinions

The Ultimate Kids Christmas Book is full of treasures galore. The book is split into three chapters, and each is full of fantastic ideas to help you celebrate the holiday season.

Chapter One-Celebrate

This chapter starts with tidbits about how Christmas is celebrated around the world. Then it encourages you to find ways to make the holidays special for you by creating an Advent calendar full of “advent-ures.” This includes activities such as going on a winter walk, building blanket forts, learning how to say Merry Christmas in different languages, and creating a Christmas time capsule. From there, it goes on to discuss the Christmas tree and its many symbols, such as bells, candles, and even wrapped presents. The book also lists movies and stories that you can share with the whole family.

Chapter Two-Craft

This chapter is full of ideas for ornaments, decor, and gifts. It even discusses how to wrap presents and how to make the perfect bow. The best part is that these crafts are all done using easy-to-access items. The hardest item to find may be the holiday light bulbs for a wreath. If you don’t have the tools or materials at home, you can find them at almost any dollar or craft store.

Chapter Three-Bake

You guessed it, it’s full of treats and snacks to bake throughout the holiday season. There are three basic cookie recipes (sugar, black cocoa, and gingerbread) included that can be turned into many different kinds of cookies. Some of these recipes start with store-bought treats, which are then turned into something fancy with decorations.

My biggest issue with this book is that many of these ideas can be found online. I recognized at least one craft item from my Pinterest board. But having them together in the book makes it easier to find the directions.

Overall, I feel that The Ultimate Kids Christmas Book would be a welcome addition to any home library. While the target age for the book is 8-12, I feel that many others could find something to appreciate and enjoy.
