Happy June, y’all! How was your May? Was it wild and hectic? Or did you get the chance to rest and reset before the season changes? Mine was a bit all over the place. And my June? One would think it would be just as crazy and hectic with a high school senior, but it probably won’t be. In the meantime, who wants to see my May 2026 wrap-up and what my June may look like?

My May TBR was an easy one to finish; it’s great when there’s only one book on it. I managed to knock a couple of books off my seasonal TBR as well. Sadly, one of those was a DNF. I don’t think it was the book, more of me picking it up at the wrong time. But I also finally managed to read a book from my year-long TBR.
Did I read a good book in May? I would recommend any of the books I finished. This is another month where it’s hard to pick my favorite; I mean, I rated four of the seven as 4.5 out of 5. Which four? Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young, Amari and the Metalwork Menace by B.B. Alston, Dead Weight by Hildur Knútsdóttir, and Future Boy by Michael J. Fox & Nelle Fortenberry. Dead Weight was a surprise for me, as it’s a horror-thriller novella, and I don’t do well with horror. Amari and the Metalwork Menace was a fantastic addition to the series; please don’t make me wait forever for another one! Future Boy was a fun read about some serious 80s pop culture! And Out on a Limb? A romance with a surprise pregnancy, but not in the middle or even the end. Instead, it’s right near the front!
June TBR
While I don’t have any books to read in June, I do have a couple for July, and I have something else planned for July. Because of those plans, I’m hoping to read the July books in June.
- Lady X by Molly Fader
- Deadly Does It by Abbi Waxman
- Murder at First Slice by Valerie Burns
- Dangerland! by Erin Singer
May Blog Wrap-Up & June Plans
In May, I published 10 posts. Of those 10, 4 were reviews, and 4 were TTT posts. There was also a wrap-up post and a shelf clean-up.
In July 2024, I shared my review of the Too Good to Go App (if you haven’t checked it out, you really should), and it was the most popular post in May. Of the 10 posts I published in May, the most popular was one in which I shared my most-read authors of all time.
What does June have in store for the blog? I’m not 100% sure. I am planning on having five reviews and five Top Ten Tuesday posts. I’m hoping to have a goal check-in and possibly a tag, too. I have a blog project in the works that’s been taking a lot of my time lately, and I’m hoping to have it done sooner rather than later.
Personal Stuff
The middle of May was a tad hectic, as it usually is with so many special days all within a week. For Mother’s Day, I decided to torture the whole family and play a card game from my childhood. I’m not 1000% certain I had the rules correct, as it took five of us like 3 hours to play. Sadly, I didn’t win. But it was still an okay day.
The following weekend, my husband and I took a trip to Toronto. Sadly, we had to rearrange our plans a tad, as the trains weren’t running that weekend, so we had to settle for the double-decker bus. Not my favorite way to travel, but it wasn’t as bad this time as it was in the fall. We did lots of walking, got wet (because, of course, it rained and we didn’t take umbrellas), and walked some more. I think we walked over 15km (around 10 miles) over the whole weekend. While that may not seem like a lot, it is for someone who is relatively sedentary in the day-to-day.

What does June have in store for me? Well, my daughter should be going to prom the first week of the month and then graduating the second. She stated that neither was happening, as she only has like five friends and everyone else at the school can die. For the past few years, school has not been a positive place for her, and I understand her feelings. But that’s not to say I’m not a little sad about it, because I want to see her walk the stage and get her diploma. I want to make a big deal out of her achievements. But I’m not going to force her into something she doesn’t want to do.
Other than that, June only has Father’s Day at the end. I have a feeling we’re going strawberry picking for the third year in a row. What can I say, my kids are creatures of habit. Of course, my youngest is only going in hopes of finding another frog in the field.
That’s my May in a nutshell. How was your May? What was your favorite read? What are your plans for June?
