Happy May, y’all! How was your April? Mine was as hectic as I thought it would be, with a road trip in the middle of the month. Even better, my May will be just as hectic, if not more so. But that’s nothing new for me. In the meantime, who wants to see my April 2026 wrap-up and what my May may look like?

Review: An action-packed conclusion to the series.
My April TBR was an easy one to finish; it’s great when there’s only one book on it. I managed to knock a couple of books off my seasonal TBR as well. Unfortunately, both of those books were DNFs. But they are still off my shelf now.
Did I read a good book in March? I would recommend any of the books I finished. This is another month where it’s hard to pick my favorite, as I have three that I rated 4.5 stars. Interestingly, all three are part of a series: The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez, Everyone in This Bank is a Thief by Benjamin Stevenson, and A Hard Day for a Hangover by Darynda Jones. I say it’s part of a series, but the Jimenez book can be read as a standalone.
May TBR
- Dead Weight by Hildur Knútsdóttir
April Blog Wrap-Up & May Plans
In March, I published 10 posts. Of those 10, 4 were reviews, and 4 were TTT posts. There was also a wrap-up post and a shelf clean-up.
In September 2025, I shared my review of Pick a Color by Souvankham Thammavogsa, and it was the most popular post in April. Of the 10 posts I published in April, the most popular was one in which I shared 10 books set in Iceland.
What does May have in store for the blog? I’m not 100% sure. I am planning on having four reviews and four Top Ten Tuesday posts. I’m hoping to have a goal check-in and possibly a tag, too. A lot depends on what I can schedule.
Personal Stuff
My April was a tad chaotic, but not as bad as I thought it might be. My road trip south was a tad nerve-wracking at points because I’m always a nervous wreck when I cross the border. On the way down, I listened to Jenny Colgan’s Bookshop on the Shore. It was nice to listen to what I wanted while driving. On the way back home, I had planned to listen to Darynda Jones’ A Bad Day for a Hangover, but Spotify had other ideas, and I ended up listening to some of my favorite songs for most of the ride.
While in Virginia, I spent the first few days sorting through things and found some stuff I had forgotten about or had lost years ago. Sadly, most of those things had gotten damp over the years and had to be tossed. But I did manage to complete the one thing I had set out to do while down there, so I count it as a win. I even managed to get a sunburn on my first day, because I spent most of it outside without sunscreen–silly me! Thankfully, the burn wasn’t too bad and was mostly gone by the time I got home.

The rest of the trip was spent hanging out with my mom and attempting to do some shopping. She took me to one of her favorite restaurants for lunch one day. The view was amazing, as was the food! It was an authentic Mexican restaurant on the river, in the middle of a neighborhood. I started following them on Instagram as a form of torture. LOL!
What does May have in store for me? A busy week in the middle of the month! But it’s always a busy week. We have Mother’s Day on May 10, our oldest daughter’s 24th birthday that Friday, and our 25th wedding anniversary the following Monday. Oh, and that Monday is also a holiday in Canada referred to as Victoria Day (officially) or May 2-4 (unofficially). My husband and I are going away for a night for our anniversary, and we are hoping to plan something bigger next year, as our plans had to change due to life!
That’s my April in a nutshell. How was your April? What was your favorite read? What are your plans for May?
