Happy November, y’all! Is it just me, or has 2025 sped up? It felt like October was over in the blink of an eye. Or maybe it’s just that I had so much to look forward to that it felt like it went by so quickly? How was your October? What is your November looking like? Let’s check out my October 2025 wrap-up together.

Let’s hear it for another completed TBR! I even managed to knock a couple of books off my seasonal TBR. Oh, and I’m like halfway through a third one. I love how things work out like that.

Out of the 11 books I’ve read, there were no five-star reads. But there was one that was close, at 4.75 stars, and two that were solid 4.5-star reads. The highest-rated book was Final Orbit by Chris Hadfield, followed by A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna and The Ex-Boyfriend’s Favorite Recipe Funeral Committee by Saki Kawashiro.

Thankfully, there were no DNF books. However, there was one that could’ve been a DNF. While I finished reading Forests, Fishing, & Forgery by Tonya Kappes, it was a bit of a struggle. Some of the words Kappes used left me a bit annoyed.

October Blog Wrap-Up and November Plans

In October, I published 11 posts. Of those 11, there were four reviews and four TTT posts. There was also a wrap-up and a shelf clean-up. I even managed a cookbook review! Are you proud of me?

In February 2025, I wrote a post about my favorite historical fiction reads of 2024, which was also the most popular post overall in October. Of the 11 posts I published in October, the most popular was a continuation of my Alphabet Challenge, which focused on titles starting with the letter R.

What does November have in store for the blog? That’s always a great question! There are four reviews and four TTT posts planned. I still have a cookbook to review. And that craft project I’ve been discussing for the past few months? Well, it’s stalled, but it’s slowly getting a new look. My fingers are crossed that it can be sorted out soon and a post can be up before the end of November. Stay tuned!

Personal Stuff

Ah, October! What can I say, it was a bit of a busy month. But that’s not a surprise for me. First, there was the Canadian Thanksgiving on the 13th. Then my birthday was the 15th, though we celebrated it on a different day. My daughter’s craft show was on the 18th. My husband and I had a date at the theater on the 30th. And of course, Halloween was on the 31st. On top of all of that, postseason baseball! I love how the Toronto Blue Jays are showing the rest of North America that they do actually know how to play. I love how they’ve been the underdog all October!

The craft show was an interesting experience. It was relatively slow, and most of my daughter’s creations weren’t geared toward the show’s audience. How dare the sun shine, and temperatures be warm on a Saturday in October? In the end, she made around $50 for the day. Not great, but not terrible. She’s all set, though, for the art market her school does at the end of November.

I was thrilled to attend the theater this month. Why? Well, that’s two-fold. The tickets were a Christmas gift from my husband. Talk about a long wait to use a gift! The second part that was so exciting was the play itself. We saw Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution. It was a fabulous performance, and I hope to see more of her plays in the future. The theater group has announced its 2026 schedule, which includes two of her plays. By the way, if you’ve read the story, you will still be surprised by the play.

What’s happening in my world in November? Not a lot, actually. Well, until we get near the end of the month. We have a family holiday shopping trip coming up soon, followed by American Thanksgiving (yes, we celebrate both in our house), and then there’s the Christmas decorating to be done.

That’s my October in a nutshell. How was your October? What was your favorite read? What are your plans for November?

  1. October was an extremely busy month for me too! Eleven books and blog posts is impressive–congratulations! I’ve seen one Agatha Christie play: The Mousetrap. My family went to see it in London when I was ten! I was terrified of being randomly strangled after seeing it LOL.

    1. I would love to see The Mousetrap. Our community theater did a production of it last year, but I missed out do to work and such. How dare life get in the way of such things!
