Happy Tuesday, y’all! This week, Jana, over at That Artsy Reader Girl handed the reins over to Sabrina from Notes From a Paper Plane Nomad. And what does Sabrina want us to talk about this week? She wants us to share movies or TV shows we think would make great books. The only problem with that for me is the fact I don’t watch much TV or many movies. I’ve never been one for that, but especially as I’ve gotten older. The one exception is if they have been adapted from books I’ve enjoyed reading. So this week I’m sharing ten more awesome books I would love to see as a movie.
That’s right, ten more! I did a similar post back in August 2021 (check that out here). I’m still waiting for those adaptations. So while I wait, I’ve come up with ten more awesome books to make into a movie
All titles are linked to Goodreads.
Without further ado, here are ten more awesome books to make into a movie!
The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton
- Genre: Historical Romance, Fantasy
- Release Date: June 2021
- Potential Movie Rating: PG-13
- Note: As this is the first book in a trilogy, there’s the chance for a three movie series!
The Apollo Murders by Chris Hadfield
- Genre: Historical, Action, Sci-Fi
- Release Date: October 2021
- Potential Movie Rating: PG-13
- Notes: This is the first book in a series, and is often stated as James Bond meets Jack Ryan.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
- Genre: Contemporary, Magical Realism, Fantasy, Romance
- Release Date: August 2022
- Potential Movie Rating: PG
- Note: I feel this would have something for everyone!
Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree
- Genre: Fantasy
- Release Date: February 2022
- Potential Movie Rating: PG/PG-13
- Note: They could start with Bookshops & Bonedust, then follow up with Legends & Lattes. Either way, the could work as live action or animated.
The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley by Courtney Walsh
- Genre: Contemporary, Romance
- Release Date: June 2023
- Potential Rating: PG
- Note: A great reminder to all that we aren’t alone, if we just give life a chance. Yes there’s a romantic element to the story, but I don’t think that would deter people from the over all story.
Holmes, Marple, & Poe by James Patterson & Brian Sitts
- Genre: Mystery, Thriller
- Release Date: January 2024
- Potential Movie Rating: PG-13/R
- Notes: AKA Holmes, Margaret, & Poe. A movie with three very well known literary names? Set in the current day? Solving a myriad of crimes?
Class Mom by Laurie Gelman
- Genre: Contemporary, Women’s Fiction
- Release Date: August 2017
- Potential Movie Rating: PG-13
- Notes: A movie featuring a relatable woman in some very real situations! Most of them are laugh-out-loud worthy! And there are four books to get material from!
Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer
- Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Mystery
- Release Date: August 2023
- Potential Movie Rating: PG-13
- Notes: This is just the first book in a trilogy! It’s full of humor, and quirky characters.
The Switch by Beth O’Leary
- Genre: Contemporary, Women’s Fiction, Romance
- Release Date: April 2020
- Notes: Yes this is similar to The Holiday, but in my opinion it’s better! While this is classified as a romance, I feel like it’s so much more.
The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman
- Genre: Contemporary, Romance
- Release Date: July 2019
- Potential Movie Rating: PG
- Notes: This is another one that has romantic elements, but it’s more about Nina Hill finding out more about who she is, and her place in the world (outside of the bookstore).
These are just ten more awesome books to make into a movie; I’m sure I could come up with a lot more. Have you read any of these books? Would you watch any of these movies? Do you have a book you would love to see as a movie?

Some good ones there! I’ve also done a twist on the topic! I’d love to see that Beth O’Leary book made into a film and also her book The No-Show which I thought was brilliant.
I twisted this prompt a bit this week too!
Oh yes Sangu Mandana and Holton’s books would make great movies or even series.
Legends & Lattes would make a great film!
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
I would love to see an adaptation of The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels! I’m actually re-reading it again thanks to a friend and loving it more this time around then the first time.
When I started reading The Wisteria Society, my first thought was I need this adapted!
I didn’t know Hadfield was making a series out of it! Cool!! Thanks for that heads up. My list is here. I also did a rambling post a few years ago on the Roswell High vs Roswell series, if you’re curious.
Disregard the last half of that comment…I was responding to multiple blogs at once and forgot which tab I was in. XD
So far there’s only two books. But both are pretty great reads.
I also did books to movies/shows this week! I almost added Mandanna’s and Baldree’s books to my list but I just imagined the adaptation not living up to the amazingness of both of my favourites and I couldn’t do it, LOL 😂 I think they’d be amazing though, and I can see Assistant to the Villain as a fun series or movie, too. Great list!
That’s always the fear, an adaptation just not living up to it’s amazingness.
These sound like they would make great adaptations! I would love to watch Legends & Lattes on screen.
Here’s my TTT this week: https://bookwyrmknits.com/2024/03/26/top-ten-tuesday-still-more-quotes-about-books/
Same, whether animated or live action, I would give it a watch.
I can’t decide which version I want more, though! Both have their benefits.
I would love Legends & Lattes as a long-running TV series! I need more of it. So much more!

I enjoyed it so much I gave my husband a copy for Christmas, and he loved it too.
I love the twist to this week’s prompt! I would love for Courtney Walsh’s book to be made into a movie!!
I don’t think I’ve seen or heart of “The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches,” but that cover art is darling. Makes me curious. Also, I would for sure watch an adaptation of one of Courtney Walsh’s novels. I read her Nantucket book and one or two other earlier releases, and did enjoy them all. 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting my website today!
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches is such a cozy read with a found family situtation. Loved it!
These would be a lot of fun as movies. I loved Mandanna’s book.
Irregular Witches would be so magical and cozy!
And doesn’t the world need more magic and cozy?
A great list. I want to read so many of these books!
Have a good week!

Good choices–I loved The Switch and have wanted to read Class Mom! I blew it and did next weeks lol
Class Mom was a laugh out loud read for me. Jen Dixon (the main character) is the kind of person I want to be with the perfect amount of snark and sass.
Great! I’ll get to it this year.
I could definitely see The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches as a cute movie.
It would be such fun!
The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley by Courtney Walsh is a book I need to read. I have it. I just need the time. 😀
It’s such a cozy, warm fuzzy kind of read.
Ooh nice! These are all new to me ones! Definitely here for the paranormal ones! Those would be great as movies! Lol.
Thanks for visiting my TTT!
The Courtney Walsh book is on my TBR.
It was one of my favorites from last year.
Legends and Lattes would be delightful to see on screen!
I bet someone is working to make Beth O’Leary books into movies, and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone snatched up Legends and Lattes, too.
This is such a perfect twist on this week’s prompt, and I love so many of the books that you’ve chosen. Legends and Lattes has got to be getting made into a movie, and I’ve added a bunch of these onto my TBR.
You’ve included some really great choices. Gosh, I hope they make a movie for The Switch! It was so good and heartwarming! Not to mention numerous at times as well. Awesome pick!
I know there was an adaptation of The Flatshare, and I thought it was done well, so maybe The Switch will have one too! Fingers crossed!
