Happy Tuesday y’all! It’s that time again. What time is it? Time to share our seasonal TBR. Every quarter Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl asks us to share a seasonal TBR. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, that means our Summer 2023 TBR. For my Summer 2023 TBR, I will list books I hope to read from July-September 2023.

Summer 2023 TBR: Ten Books I Hope to Read July-September 2023.

How did my Spring TBR go? Not too bad, honestly! I read five of the nine books I listed, with the possibility of finishing at least one more. See, I couldn’t even count correctly when I posted it. I promise this time; I will list ten books, LOL!

For my Summer 2023 TBR, I followed a similar pattern to my previous seasonal TBR. This quarter, I have some ARCs to read and three books for the Buzzwords reading challenge from Books & Lala. So, I decided to highlight four of the ARCs. Then I used Goodreads’s random search function to help fill the rest of my TBR.

All titles are linked to Goodreads, and all synopsis are from Goodreads.

Without further ado, here is my Spring 2023 TBR!

The Door-to-Door Bookstore by Carsten Henn

Genre: Fiction, Translated

The bookseller Carl Christian Kollhoff delivers books to special customers in the evening hours after closing time, walking through the picturesque alleys of the city. These people are almost like friends to him, and he is their most important connection to the world.

When Kollhoff unexpectedly loses his job, it takes the power of books and a nine-year-old girl to make them all find the courage to rebuild their bonds with each other.

Someone Just Like You by Meredith Schorr

Genre: Romance, Contemporary

New Yorker Molly Blum knows everything about her lifelong nemesis, Jude Stark. With their families so close, they should have been best friends. Instead, she thinks he’s a too-charming slacker, and he thinks she’s allergic to fun. After years of one-upping each other’s pranks (chocolate-dipped cat treats are not as delicious as they appear), one high school joke went too far, and they stopped speaking completely. But now that they’re supposed to help plan a massive party for their parents—together—there’s no better time to resume their war.

And it is on. Only somewhere between all the sniping and harmless hijinks a reluctant friendship develops, along with an unexpected spark of sexual tension. It might have to do with the fact that she’s been dating Jude-lookalikes, and he’s been dating Molly doppelgangers. Or the fact that neither of them is nearly as horrible as they thought. All Molly and Jude know is that they’ve mastered the art of hating each other. Falling in love, on the other hand, is a whole new battlefield.

The Sunset Years of Agnes Sharp by Leonie Swann

Genre: Cozy Mystery, Translated

It has been an eventful morning for Agnes Sharp and the other inhabitants of Sunset Hall, a house share for the old and unruly in the sleepy English countryside. Although they have had some issues (misplaced reading glasses, conflicting culinary tastes, decreasing mobility, and unruly grandsons), nothing prepares them for an unexpected visit from a police officer with some shocking news. A body has been discovered next door. Everyone puts on a long face for show, but they are secretly relieved the body in question is not the one they’re currently hiding in the shed (sorry, Lillith).

It seems the answer to their little problem with Lillith may have fallen right into their lap. All they have to do is find out who murdered their neighbor, so they can pin Lillith’s death on them, thus killing two (old) birds with one stone (cold killer).

With their plan sorted, Agnes and her geriatric gang spring into action. After all, everybody likes a good mystery. Besides, the more suspicion they can cast about, surely the less will land on them. To investigate, they will step out of their comfort zone into the not-so-idyllic village of Duck End and tangle with sinister bakers, broken stairlifts, inept criminals, the local authorities, and their own dark secrets.

Love of My Lives by Yamile Saied Mendez

Genre: Contemporary, Romance

Madi Ramírez has it all—a thriving career she loves, a successful boyfriend, and a wedding to plan—when he finally proposes. So why does she feel like there is something missing? Jayden even has the right initials—the JR that appeared to Madi years ago in a dream visitation from her beloved, wise abuela. Madi’s friends think her expectations are too high—but she can’t help wishing for that dreamy feeling in real-life. Wishing that Jayden would show her a little more affection. That she could really believe they were meant to be . . .

When a business trip to Puerto Rico presents itself, Madi is quick to take it. She can finally scatter her abuela’s ashes on the beach, as she wished. And maybe time apart will remind Jayden how much Madi means to him—and maybe he’ll begin to show it. But in Puerto Rico, Madi finds something—well, someone—else. A man who makes her heart beat triple-time—and who feels as right as someone Fated—except for those nagging initials . . .

Brimming with the magic of old San Juan and la Isla del Encanto, The Love of My Lives is the perfect read for anyone who has longed for a legendary love story that transcends time and distance—and the powerful magic of steering their own dreams.

  1. I really enjoyed the Phaedra Patrick book. Hope you do too. I have her new one on my summer reading list.

  2. The Agnes Sharp book sounds fun and so does the Phaedra Patrick one. Hope you enjoy your summer TBR! 🙂

  3. Oooh, using Goodreads random search to fill in the rest of your list is brave! I have way too many books to try that. But you make me want to clean up my tbr so that could be a possibility! Happy reading!

  4. Some of these look adorable! I love how summer-y some of the covers look, too. I haven’t read any, and I think the only one that’s familiar is Meredith’s, which looks really cuuute! 🙂
