Happy Foodie Friday y’all! Is it just me, or does it seem impossible that Santa will be visiting in just over a week? Have you figured out which cookies to leave for him on Christmas Eve? If not, lucky you because I am sharing Santa’s Favorite Cookies! If you have, you should check this recipe out, as I am sure it will be a big hit in your household.

Santa's Favorite Cookies: Peppermint Chocolate Chip Cookies

I would love to say that this recipe is mine, but I can’t. The recipe for these peppermint chocolate chip cookies comes from Lorie at lemons + zest, one of her most popular recipes.

So what makes these Santa’s Favorite Cookies? Simply put, they are full of chocolate chips and candy cane bits. These cookies come together quickly and are super easy to make.

My Input On This Recipe

The recipe calls for white chocolate chips, regular chocolate chips, and chopped candy canes. We generally have semi-sweet chocolate chips in the house, but not white chocolate chips. Instead, I’ve found it easy to swap out more semi-sweet chips for the white. You could even use dark chocolate if you prefer.

The kids can help make these cookies, which is always a bonus! They can help break up the candy canes and measure the chocolate chips. Guess what? They can even help mix in the chips and candy cane bits!

Another great thing about this recipe, you can make the dough up to 3 days in advance.

While chopping your candy canes, pull the butter out of the fridge so it can reach room temperature. You can also pull the egg out at the same time.

Lorie mentions in the recipe to line the pans with parchment paper. You have to do this, so the candy canes don’t stick to the pan as they melt. I prefer silicone baking mats (those things are a Godsend!).

These cookies evaporate every time I make them! Trust me; they are Santa’s Favorite Cookies!

        1. That makes me so happy to hear! I made my second batch of the season yesterday so my daughter could take them to school for friends.
