Happy Thursday y’all! Can you believe that Christmas is only a couple of weeks away? Have you finished your shopping? I’ve got a few more gifts to pick up for my husband, whose birthday is right before Christmas (3 days separate them). In keeping with the holiday theme I started last week, this week’s tag is a Naughty or Nice Book Tag. I found this tag over at Emily the Book Nerd, and you should head over there and give her answers a read.

Naughty or Nice Book Tag

I wonder which I am, naughty or night! Let’s find out! On to my answers for the Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag!

1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it

Honestly, I did. I received an ARC through a Goodreads giveaway earlier this year and struggled while reading it. The book wasn’t bad; I just wasn’t in a good place mentally to read it. I hope to give it another go at some point.

2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley

As I have only read/reviewed four books on Netgalley, I don’t have a feedback rating yet. But I do have a few I need to read soon and rate.

3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)

Recently, I’ve gotten into the bad habit of leaving a rating on Goodreads, but no kind of review unless I read an ARC. I have also left comments in the review section for DNF books, but I don’t rate them.

4. Folded down the page of a book

What kind of animal do you think I am? I’m sure once upon a time I folded the pages of a book, but I haven’t done it in a LONG time.

5. Accidentally spilled on a book

Guilty! But only on books I own, I try to take excellent care of books that I borrow from the library or other people.

6. DNF a book this year

Yup! This year, I have DNF at least one book a month on average. Some months I’ve DNF more than others. My reasons for DNF a book vary from book to book.

7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it

Um, have you seen the price of books? Of course, I haven’t!

8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)

Yup! Find me a reader who hasn’t read when they were meant to be doing something else. Go on; I’ll wait!

9. Skim read a book

I think the only time I’ve ever skimmed a book, or a part of a book, is when I’m trying to determine if it’s worth my time continuing with the book. The one I can think of is Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal

Not this year; I’ve blown it out of the water. But a few years ago, I missed my goal a lot because my life changed and reading for fun fell to the side.

11. Borrowed a book and not returned it

When I was a kid, 8 or 9, my family made a huge move. It was such a huge move that I changed schools after 6-8 weeks. I had a library book that I had borrowed from school and, in the end, never returned it. I don’t know how I forgot, but it ended up on my bookshelf in the house we moved to. And I felt guilty about it for years afterward.

12. Broke a book buying ban

I’ve never put myself on a book buying ban. If I can’t afford to buy books, I don’t look at them in the store.

13. Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about

Nope!

14. Wrote in a book you were reading

Only when I was in school, and we had to annotate.

15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

I’ve been on Goodreads since 2008, and I don’t think I’ve neglected to add a book since then.

Verdict

It appears that I am more nice than naughty. And in all honesty, I”m okay with that.

What about you? How naughty or nice are you when it comes to books? I would love to know. And if you do The Naughty and Nice Book Tag, I would love to know.

  1. Good for you for DNF’ing books. I just can’t do it. I try, but I’m so optimistic that I’m always “sure” it will get better, but they rarely do.

    1. I used to power through the books, and then wonder why I did that when there are so many other books out there to read. I’ve actually DNF more books this year than I think I ever have in the past.

  2. I am SOOO not ready for Christmas. I’ve just started my shopping! And can you believe I’ve never reviewed a Netgalley book? I really want to request some though one of these days…

I think I skimmed through parts of Gone Girl too. It’s a long book! 🙂

    1. I’ve only recently started using Netgalley, mainly because I saw a couple of books I really wanted to read on there.
