Howdy, y’all! It’s time for my July 2025 Goodreads TBR Shelf Clean-Up. I wonder if this will help me reduce the number of books on my TBR. Who am I kidding? I’m a reader; of course, I’ll always add books. In June 2025, I had 609 books. Today, I have 607. I’ve been doing pretty well with not adding books. Will my July 2025 Goodreads TBR shelf clean-up help drop that number?

July 2025 Goodreads TBR Shelf Clean-Up

I saw this Goodreads TBR Clean-Up post at Megan’s Book Stacks and knew I had to try it. Megan found it over at MegaBunnyReads.

Click the titles to go to Goodreads.

How It Works:

  • Go to your Goodreads want-to-read shelf.
  • Use a random number generator to pick a number between 1 and however many books are on the list.
  • Go to that book and look at the four after it for a total of 5.
  • Read the synopses of the books.
  • Decide: keep it or delete it?
  • Discuss here.

Books To Be Read: 607

Starting Number: 542. It appears that I’m reviewing the books I added in the spring of 2025.

Shelf Sorted: Date Added

Let’s get this July 2025 Goodreads TBR Shelf Clean-Up underway!

Honey and Heat by Aurora Palit

Cynthia Kumar always wins. She’s successful, competitive, and knows exactly what she to be the heir to her father’s multimillion dollar business.

Except her father just chose his successor, and it’s not her… it’s her one-night stand.

Rohit Patel can’t believe his luck. He’s just landed the opportunity of a lifetime, his future is once again on track, and the woman he just spent the night with could be the love of his life.

Except, she’s his new boss’s daughter, and now she hates him.

When Kumar Constructions falls under scrutiny, both Cynthia and Rohit are determined to see its tarnished reputation restored to its original glory. As they each try to swoop in and save the day, their game of one-upmanship fails spectacularly, leaving them no choice but to set their differences aside and work together. But as their partnership to save the company—and their feelings for one another—blossoms, they’ll have to decide what’s more important…their careers or love?

My Thoughts

This hasn’t been released, and it is on my list of anticipated releases for the rest of the year. You can find my whole anticipated releases list here.

KEEP

People Watching by Hanna Bonham-Young

Prudence Welch has found solace in her introverted life in Baysville, a charming tourist town in Northern Ontario. Despite once dreaming of a life beyond its borders, she now finds contentment in her working at her father’s gas station, writing poetry, and caring for her mother, who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s shortly after Prue’s nineteenth birthday. But as her mother’s condition worsens and her father’s concerns about her future intensify, Prue feels her world slipping further out of control.

Enter Milo Kablukov, an enigmatic wanderer whose beat-up van covered with ill-advised bumper stickers rolls into town just when Prue needs a change. It’s all too easy to let go with him, and Prue can’t help but strike up an unlikely friendship with Milo, which leads to a wild and sexy agreement between them.

Milo, a man of many adventures and countless stories, is not one to settle down. However, his brother’s urgent need for help has brought him to Baysville, and now the intriguing Prue has given him more reason to stay. Especially once they start spending more time together, their chemistry intensifying, and casual-sex lessons start at Prue’s request.

But as their temporary arrangement blossoms into something deeper, Prue and Milo discover that getting out of their comfort zones is one thing… taking that leap together is something else entirely.

My Thoughts

This book is also on my anticipated releases list for the rest of the year. I still haven’t read anything by Bonam-Young.

KEEP

Life’s Too Short by Abby Jimenez

A brilliant and touching romantic comedy about two polar opposites, one adorable dog, and living each day to its fullest.

When Vanessa Price quit her job to pursue her dream of traveling the globe, she wasn’t expecting to gain millions of YouTube followers who shared her joy of seizing every moment. For her, living each day to its fullest isn’t just a motto. Her mother and sister never saw the age of 30, and Vanessa doesn’t want to take anything for granted.

But after her half-sister suddenly leaves Vanessa in custody of her infant daughter, life goes from “daily adventure” to “next-level bad” (now with bonus baby vomit in hair). The last person Vanessa expects to show up offering help is the hot lawyer next door, Adrian Copeland. After all, she barely knows him. No one warned her that he was the Secret Baby Tamer or that she’d be spending a whole lot of time with him and his geriatric Chihuahua.

Now she’s feeling things she’s vowed not to feel. Because the only thing worse than falling for Adrian is finding a little hope for a future she may never see.

My Thoughts

This is the 3rd book in the Friend Zone trilogy. I’ve enjoyed the first two, and can’t wait to read this one.

KEEP

Christmas at the Ranch by Julia McKay

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to a run-in with my ex, two flat tires, and a miracle horse to help me find love.

With the holidays around the corner and her father under arrest for financial fraudjournalist Everly Oakes has no idea where to turn. She’s only certain of one she needs to get away.

Fate and her subconscious take her to Evergreen Lake, the picturesque town where she spent her happiest Christmas as a teenage girl – and fell in love for the first time. Stranded due to car trouble and a blizzard, Everly is rescued by Charlie Wilder, father of her first love, who offers her the guest house at Wilder Ranch. Tate, he promises, is out of town.

But kismet and Christmas magic have other ideas, and when Tate comes home early and finds a half-dressed Everly in his cabin, all bets are off for what else the holidays will hold this year.

My Thoughts

This sounds like a fun holiday read.

KEEP

The Franchise: Toronto Blue Jays-A Curated History of the Jays by Keegan Matheson

This thoughtful and engaging collection of essays captures the astute fans’ history of the franchise, going beyond well-worn narratives of yesteryear to uncover the less-discussed moments, decisions, people, and settings that fostered the Blue Jays’ distinctive identity.

Through wheeling and dealing, mythmaking and community building, explore where the organization has been, how it came to prominence in the modern major league landscape, and how it will continue to evolve and stay in contention for generations to come.

Jays fans in the know will enjoy this personal, local, in-depth look at baseball history.

My Thoughts

I love reading about sports. And loving the way the 2025 Jays are playing!

Wrap Up

That is my July 2025 Goodreads TBR Shelf Clean-Up. It appears to have had little effect on my shelf, as I’m keeping all five books. LOL!

This was fun. I may do it now and then to help keep my shelf realistic. In the past, I just added books without really thinking about it. Will I stop doing that? Of course not! What kind of animal do you think I am?

What do you think? Have you tried something like this to manage your TBR?

  1. You might not have gotten anything off your TBR this week, but it can also be nice to just check in with the books on the list and make sure they still belong there!

    1. Honestly, I think that’s part of the reason I enjoy doing this. There are times I’ve found books that I’ve completely forgot about.
