Happy Tuesday y’all! This week my TTT post is Going to the Dogs! Over at That Artsy Reader Girl, Jana has dubbed this week’s Top Ten Tuesday to be about Pet Peeves. But I did a post like that recently, Dear Book Publishers, and didn’t want to do it again. So instead, I’m shining the light on books with man’s best friend on the cover.
I tried to include a little bit of something for everyone. The books listed here are a mix of ones I’ve read and hope to read. There are mysteries, Christmas reads, romance, young adult, and middle-grade reads. I didn’t include classics such as White Fang or Because of Winn-Dixie. Click the title for more information.
Mysteries
A Pedigree to Die For by Laurien Berenson // A Wee Murder in My Shop by Fran Stewart
Death in Bloom by Jess Dylan // Murder, She Barked by Krista Davis
Up to No Gouda by Linda Reilly // Deck the Hounds by David Rosenfelt
Holiday Reads
The Dogs of Christmas by W. Bruce Cameron // Mutts and Mistletoe by Natalie Cox
Romances
A Spot of Trouble by Teri Wilson // The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
Middle-Grade Reads
Dog Driven by Terry Lynn Johnson // Swindle by Gordon Korman
I told you my blog post was Going to the Dogs! Some of these pups are just so cute and want some love.
What do you think? Did I miss anything? Anything new to you?

If you put a dog on the cover of a book at my school library, that book couldn’t stay on the shelf!
I love dogs (I have three!) so I love this post too! I enjoyed A Spot of Trouble and have Up to No Gouda on my TBR.
Cute! Here is my link if you’d like to stop by: https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2021/10/top-ten-tuesday-bookish-pet-peeves.html
Ooooh, I love books with dogs on the cover! I just read a holiday cozy mystery featuring a huge Newfoundland. It’s called Murder at the Christmas Cookie Bake-Off by Darci Hannah, and it’s a really good one.
Puppies in Christmas hats! AH SO CUTE, MADE MY DAY.

This might be my favourite deviation from the prompt ever! Great list π
I like this topic. Up To No Gouda- love that one! π
Matson’s books looks fun too!
I love dogs so I have major heart eyes for this post. π
Oh, such a brilliant topic!
Who doesn’t love a cute dog on a cover. Love these!
Aw dogs! Nothing like a sweet dog on the cover of a book.
Okay this is RIGHT up my alley, so time for a mega comment!
1. It always bummed me out that I couldn’t get into the cozy-mystery genre, because it’s incrdible how many books/series feature dogs (with adorable covers)
2. The Dogs of Christmas is probably my favorite Christmas read ever, but I am definitely intrgiued by the looks of Mutts and Mistletoe! Jotting it down for a December possibility. The floppy-eared dog on the right is my favorite in your post.
3. The Unexpected Everything was such a great book — but the cover is even better! Jotting down A Spot of Trouble while I’m here, and while I’m at it I’ll also rec
4. Terry Lynn Johnson is such a gift for the middle grade crowd; I’ve read a couple of hers and they’re just wonderful.
5. A Short List OF Other Books With Really Cute Dogs On The Cover:
-Album of Dogs by Marguerite Henry (I genuinely want to adopt this mutt and all her babies, even though they are just drawings)
-Last Dog on the Hill: The Extraordinary Life of Lou (a wonderful mutt!)
-Almost Home by Joan Bauer (adorable spaniel will melt your heart)
-Debbie Burns has some fine dog-centric romance novels
-A slew of books by Kristin von Kreisler, Lucy Dillon (US covers, anyway), Sue Pethick (all photos) and F.E. Rechnitzer (detailed illustrations)

On second thought, I don’t usually post my Goodreads in comments, but I have a “dogs” shelf with over 100 titles there and nearly all of them have adorable covers so I feel like this would be appreciated.
What a sweet idea. I doubt I would have found ten books with any kind of animals on the cover. In one of my challenges it said “read a book with a cat on the cover”. I had a hard time finding even one. LOL
Thanks for visiting my TTT earlier.
You can NEVER go wrong with dogs on the cover of a book! Great idea π
What a cute take on the topic!
Oh my gosh, so many puppies! I especially like the look of all the mysteries. I love a good pun-laden mystery title and these all tickle my fancy!
I just read your Dear Publishers post–#4 and #7–yes! Stickers aren’t a big problem since there are no bookshops near me so everything comes from an online source (not just Amazon).
Hah! I love your twist. Pet peeves, going to the dogs. π Love it.
Look at all the good boys and girls on those covers! I want to pet them all. π There do seem to be a lot of dogs (or cats) on cozy mystery covers, don’t there?
I LOVE this! I hadn’t heard of any of these books, but I’m adding A Spot of Trouble to my TBR for the next time I want to read a contemporary romance.
Aww, I love seeing dogs on covers! Itβs so wholesome.
Thanks for stopping by earlier.
Excellent spin on the topic, especially since it’s about “pet peeves”! π Also, that fist cover you shared, those puppies are so dang cute! I’m not a big animal person, but puppies are always so cute. Wish they’d stay that little and cute. π
Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland on this week’s topic!
