Hey, y’all! This week’s book tag is a continuation of a post I did in July asking a series of 9 bookish would you rather questions. I found a list over on Hidden in the Stacks that had around 100 WYR questions. And no, I did not use all 100 this week. I will probably go to the list multiple times to generate book tags.

9 Bookish Would You Rather Questions: August 2021

Would you read a book with an annoying cliffhanger or one where your favorite character is killed off?

Rick Riordan has done both. He’s savage that way! Look no further than the ending of The Mark of Athena.

Rick Riordan being such a savage in his dedication in The House of Hades.

Would you rather be a librarian or own your own bookstore?

Honestly, I’m not sure. Either way, I would have books all around me! And I would be able to help people find their next favorite book. Maybe if it were a small bookshop, like the one in The Bookshop on the Corner, I would like to own one.

Would you rather live in a library or a bookstore?

Living in a place surrounded by books? That would be pretty cool! Then again, I do have quite a few books in my bedroom at the moment. But I’m assuming that I would be living in an apartment over the store or library, and either way, it would work for me.

Would you rather lose the ability to read any new books or the ability to reread books you’ve already read?

This is super easy for me, as I wouldn’t say I like to reread books. So if that ability is gone, that would be no big deal for me.

Would you rather lose your place or get a paper cut every time you read a book?

What is it with people wanting readers to have paper cuts? I think there was a paper cut question the last time I did one of these. If it’s only 1 paper cut, I would be okay with that. If it’s like every time I turn the page, I would have to find a different way to read that doesn’t involve paper.

Would you rather be in a fantasy book or a science-fiction book?

Is it a high fantasy? Or a science-fiction book set in space? If it is either of those, no, thank you! If it’s an urban fantasy, or a science-fiction that’s here on Earth (and not post-Apocoplyse), I don’t think I would mind either. But if I have to pick only one, I would say an urban fantasy.

Would you rather have to always read in the dark or always read books with tiny text?

I’ve tried reading in the dark. It’s hard on the eyes. And tiny text? That’s hard on the eyes too! But, I can adapt to tiny text in a couple of different ways.

Would you rather read by a fireplace or on the beach?

As I don’t like the beach, this is another easy one for me! A fireplace with a fluffy blanket and a cup of tea, yes, please!

Would you rather only read classics for the rest of your life or YA novels?

I’ve read quite a few classics in my lifetime. And disliked many of them. Plus, with YA novels, more are being published every day. That means there will always be something new for me to read.

I think that’s enough bookish would you rather questions for this week. Like I said earlier, I found a list of more than 100 such questions. Maybe I’ll do another round of bookish would you rather questions at some point. I would love to know your answers to these questions.

  1. This is quite fun! I am a school librarian and teacher at the moment and love the school vibe. But I think I would enjoy owning a bookshop too. Reading in the dark with my Kindle won’t be that bad! I think I ‘ll rather go with reading on the beach. I just don’t like being cold!

Such a fun post to read today.
