She might even be able to broker a new partnership with Fields Brewery and its organic brewer’s association. Well, she could if the owner wasn’t found murdered at the county Ice Fishing Derby.

Once again, Shiloh gets tangled up in the investigation when the police ignore an entire crop of suspects to blame one of her friends. She’ll have to dig deep to find the truth, reel in a killer, and convince her city-slicker pug to wear his winter boots. The Mostly True Story of Tanner and Louise by Colleen Oakley

  • Anticipated Release Date: March 28, 2023
  • Genre: Fiction

Twenty-one-year-old Tanner Quimby needs a place to live. Preferably one where she can continue sitting around in sweatpants and playing video games nineteen hours a day. Since she has no credit or money to speak of, her options are limited, so when an opportunity to work as a live-in caregiver for an elderly woman falls into her lap, she takes it.

One slip on the rug. That’s all it took for Louise Wilt’s daughter to demand that Louise have a full-time nanny living with her. Never mind that she can still walk fine, finish her daily crossword puzzle, and pour the two fingers of vodka she drinks every afternoon. Bottom line — Louise wants a caretaker even less than Tanner wants to be one.

The two start off their living arrangement happily, ignoring each other until Tanner starts to notice things—weird things. Like, why does Louise keep her garden shed locked up tighter than a prison? And why is the local news fixated on the suspect of one of the biggest jewelry heists in American history who looks eerily like Louise? And why does Louise suddenly appear in her room with a packed bag at 1 a.m., insisting that they leave town immediately?

Thus begins the story of a not-to-be-underestimated elderly woman and an aimless young woman who—if they can outrun the mistakes of their past—might have the greatest adventure of their lives.

As Paris rediscovers its joie de vivre, Tabitha Knight, who recently arrived from Detroit for an extended stay with her French grandfather, is on her own journey of discovery. Paris isn’t just the City of Light; it’s the city of history, romance, stunning architecture . . . and food. Thanks to her neighbor and friend Julia Child, another ex-pat who’s fallen head over heels for Paris, Tabitha is learning how to cook for her Grandpère and Oncle Rafe.

Between tutoring Americans in French, visiting the market, and eagerly sampling the results of Julia’s studies at Le Cordon Bleu cooking school, Tabitha’s sojourn is proving thoroughly delightful. That is, until the cold December day, they return to Julia’s building and learn that a body has been found in the cellar. Tabitha recognizes the victim as a woman she’d met only the night before, at a party given by Julia’s sister, Dort. The murder weapon found nearby is recognizable, too—a knife from Julia’s kitchen.

Tabitha is eager to help the investigation but is shocked when Inspector Merveille reveals that a note in Tabitha’s handwriting was found in the dead woman’s pocket. Is this murder a case of international intrigue or something far more personal? From the shadows of the Tour Eiffel at midnight to the tiny third-floor Child kitchen to the grungy streets of Montmartre, Tabitha navigates through the city hoping to find the real killer before she or one of her friends ends up in prison . . . or worse.

The venture will not only change Jodie’s life but save the family—and possibly others—from staggering medical debt. Perfect for fans of Josie Silver and Rebecca Serle.

My dying wish is for you to finish my bucket list. I refuse to die without knowing this list will be completed. And I refuse to die without knowing my family will be okay . . .

Jodie Boyd is a shy and anxious twenty-something, completely unsure of what to do with her life. Her older sister, Bree, is an adventurous, globe-trotting, hugely successful Instagram influencer with more than a million followers. She’s the most alive person Jodie knows—up until Bree’s unfathomable, untimely death from Leukemia. The Boyds are devastated, not to mention overwhelmed with medical debt. 1. Most of these are ARCs I’ve got to read, so it made it easy to come up with another list.

  1. Melissa’s book is one I’m really curious about and hoping to enjoy. 🙂 It looks and sounds so cute and fun.

  2. Wow! Lots of good stuff here. Maureen–already on my TBR (though I DNFed Queenie’s story), Someone Else’s Bucket List (I’ll wait on your review) “In Farm’s Way”–a cute play on my favorite John Wayne movie–In Harm’s Way! And, Late Bloomers which is going straight to my TBR–thank you!

  3. Oh, I just finished Cheddar Late than Dead and it’s a great addition to the series. And I loved Maame, it’s very emotional, and I’m reading Maureen right now. I just got approved for Famous for a Living today. I’ll be interested to see what you think of all these books

  4. Great list – Maame is on my list….I saw Wendy’s (Bashful Bookworm) review so added it to my watch list. This looks like a fun list – hope they’re as good as you expect.

  5. I have not read any of these authors but they sound like fun, especially Mastering the Art of French Murder. I loved Julia Child’s memoir My Life in France, so I hope the author does a good job of putting her into fiction.

  6. Okay, I seriously love this list! While I read (and loved) Cheddar Late than Dead and Maame, I was clearly FORCED to add The Mostly True Story of Tanner and Louise and Someone Else’s Bucket List after seeing them on this list! Such an interesting sounding bunch of books, so obviously another great list from you!

  7. a wonderful list of books and I know I will be adding at least two of them here (Cheddar Late Than Dead for one…and maybe Someone Else’s Bucket List) to my TBR. And Late Bloomers is already on my TBR.
    Here is my TTT

  8. The more I hear about Maame, the more I want to read it. And ooo! Mastering the Art of French Murder is new to me. I will have to add that to my wish list! I really want to read Murder is a Piece of Cake too. These all sound good and I hope you enjoy them when you read them!
