Happy October, y’all! Can you believe it’s October already? I know it’s a big month for me; my birthday is just a couple of weeks away. There’s also the Canadian Thanksgiving, my daughter’s craft show, a scheduled date night with my husband, and of course, Halloween. That’s enough looking forward, that’s not what we’re here for. We’re here to look back. So let’s get to my September 2025 wrap-up.

Let’s hear it for another completed TBR! I even managed to dip into my October TBR. And that’s a good thing, because I’ve got one heck of a TBR for October. I would love to say I’ve knocked some books off my Summer TBR, but that was a bust. Oh well!
Of the eight books I read in September, there was only one true 5-star read, and that was Kitty St.Clair’s Last Dance. There was one that was almost perfection, and that was Kills Well with Others. There were also two that received 4.5 stars: You Make it Feel Like Christmas and The Last Devil to Die.
Unfortunately, there was also a DNF. I feel bad about it, but I was struggling to get back into the series. What book was the DNF? Oathbound by Tracy Deon. I think it had been too long since book two, as I struggled to get back into the books. Add to that the fact that we were going full speed right from the beginning, there was no gradual buildup.
October TBR
- Final Orbit by Chris Hadfield
- A Big Mess in Texas by David Fleming
- The Ex-Boyfriend’s Favorite Recipe Funeral Committee by Saki Kawashiro
- Death at the Door by Olivia Blacke
September Blog Wrap-Up and October Plans
In September, I published 11 posts. Of those 11, there were five reviews and five TTT posts. There was also a wrap-up and a shelf clean-up.
In July 2024, I wrote a post about the app Too Good To Go, which was also my most popular post overall in September. Of the 11 posts I published in September, my seasonal TBR has been the most popular.

What does October have in store for the blog? Great question! There will be four reviews and four TTT posts. I have a couple of cookbooks to review. I feel like I have fallen behind on the cookbook reviews. As for that craft project, it’s stalled!
Personal Stuff
September was a bit random. With it being back-to-school time, there were adjustments needed to schedules. Thankfully, this should be one of the last Septembers with these adjustments. Why? Because my youngest started grade 12. That said, my husband and I did get to go on a last-minute adventure. I found out a week before the event that a book festival was to be held in Toronto. After rearranging our work schedules, we went to the big city. Along the way, we learned that we prefer taking the train over the bus. The picture below was taken at the festival and shows the CN Tower hidden behind another building. It’s always been said that you can find your way around downtown Toronto if you can locate the CN Tower.

What about October? My daughter’s craft show is coming up. And she is not ready. Ugh! She had four months to prepare, and in typical teen style, she didn’t. I finally get to use a Christmas gift at the end of the month. What? My husband got me tickets to see The Witness for the Prosecution by Agatha Christie. I’m so excited to see the play. And before all of these things is my birthday. It’s a milestone birthday, too. I’ll be turning 50.
That’s my September in a nutshell. How was your September? What was your favorite read? What are your plans for October?

Kills Well with Others sounds so interesting. Glad you had time to get started on October reads. I feel like I have too many books to get through this month. Ooh, what kind of craft does your teen do? I always wanted to do a craft show, but it is so much work. I feel like I would need at least half a year to prepare. Happy birthday month!
She uses Perler beads to create accessories like earrings and hair clips. She has also made Christmas ornaments and key chains.
Happy early birthday! I feel like any Agatha Christie is perfect to pick up in the fall. Congrats on finishing your September TBR!
Happy Birthday month! I hope you enjoy the play and that your daughter gets her things ready for her craft show.
