Happy November, y’all! We are in the homestretch of 2023. Am I the only one surprised that there are only two months left in the year? How was your October? Mine was a little chaotic and random, but that’s life in a month with a couple of holidays, my birthday, and having a guest in the house for a week and a half. My November? I have a feeling it’s going to be just as random. That said, let’s look at my October 2023 wrap-up and November 2023 plans.
October 2023 Reading Wrap-Up & November 2023 TBR
Let’s flashback to my September 2023 Wrap-Up for a glimpse at what I had planned to read in October.
- The Defector by Chris Hadfield (ARC)
- The Predictable Heartbreaks of Imogen Finch by Jacqueline Firkins
- Blood Like Magic by Liselle Sambury (Buzzwordathon)
That was one of my shortest TBRs of the year. Sadly, Blood Like Magic was a DNF for me. I read about 30% before stopping. I just struggled to connect with the story. It’s too bad because it is set in a future Toronto, which is pretty close to where I currently live.
Books Read in October 2023
Heartstopper: Volume 2 by Alice Oseman | The Defector by Chris Hadfield (review)
Truth Telling: Seven Conversations About Indigenous Life in Canada by Michelle Good | The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin
The Predictable Heartbreaks of Imogen Finch by Jacqueline Firkins (review) | The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris
Overall, October was a great month of reading for me. I could pick any of these books as my favorite of the month.
November 2023 TBR
I only have one ARC to read this month, and I’ve already read my Buzzwordathon book for November. That means I plan to use November to get caught up and ahead on my ARCs for the year. I have two leftovers from previous months and three to read for December. I’m not going to list them all here. I will include a couple of books I’m carrying over from October.
- The General and Julia by Jon Clinch (ARC)
- Hallowe’en Party by Agatha Christie
- F.A.R.M. System by Rich Koslowski
Blog Wrap-Up and Plans
October was a good month of blogging. I published 11 posts, which included three reviews, five TTT posts, and even a cookbook review. For November, I have at least three reviews and four TTT posts planned. I hope to squeeze in a cookbook review this month.
The most popular post I published in October was September 2023 Wrap-Up & October 2023 Plans. The most popular post overall from September was one I posted in September 2022, Ten Book Titles Starting with the Letter A.
October Life Updates
October was as chaotic as I thought it would be! Mom was here for about ten days, so that caused me to cut back on my reading and blogging for those few days. My birthday was fun as it fell on the weekend, so we hung out at home and played a few board games before heading out for an early dinner. My husband made a no-bake cheesecake for my special dessert. Halloween was casual, as my youngest (15) went out with her friends, and my husband was at work. We only had three kids show up.
What’s happening in November? Hopefully, we can get the painting done before the holidays are here in full swing. We only have two walls left to do in the living room. And trust me, our chosen color has led to a few negative reviews from our parents. We’re going from builder’s beige to a rich green. I’ll post some pictures after we finish.
That is my October 2023 wrap-up and November 2023 plans. How was your October? Did you read any good books? What are your plans for November?
