Happy June, y’all! How was your May? Mine flew by so quickly. Of course, that might have something to do with the trip I took with my mom. What trip is that? Well, we took a seven-day Alaskan cruise. It was a bucket list trip for her, and I am so glad she invited me along for the journey. I hope to return soon because it is so beautiful and peaceful. What about the rest of my month? Let’s check out my May 2024 wrap-up and see how things went.

May 2024 Reading Wrap-Up & June TBR

Let’s flashback to my April 2024 Wrap-Up for a glimpse at what I had planned to read in May.

I am proud to say that I read my TBR! LOL! Of course, it’s hard to mess it up when only two books are on the list. I didn’t want to tax myself too much with my trip and the traveling that was involved.

Books Read in May 2024

This year, I will try something different with this part of my post. I will give a one—to two-word review of the book. I wonder how that’s going to go. There’s only one way to find out!

Now, let’s check out what I read in May 2024!

Cold: a novel by Drew Hayden Taylor

Review: Folklore with a modern twist.

Full review here.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert

Review: Fake dating!

Prairie Edge: a novel by Conor Kerr

Review: Trying to heal intergenerational wounds.

Full review here.

Ghosts of Honolulu by Mark Harmon & Leon Carroll

Review: Beginnings of NCIS.

Cold Storage, Alaska by John Straley

Review: A quirky tale of a small isolated town in Alaska.

Love, Lies, & Cherry Pie by Jackie Lau

Review: Fake dating with family involvement.

Full review here.

Band of Sisters by Lauren Willig

Review: Based on true events during WWI.

Rednecks by Taylor Brown

Review: Corporate greed vs unions.

Full review pending.

Of the eight books I read in May, five were audiobooks. They are the best way for me to consume books. Which of these eight was my favorite? I would have to say it’s a toss-up between Cold and Rednecks. They are very different stories, but they are equally immersive.

June 2024 TBR

June is the month I hope to catch up on my ARCs! I’m currently five behind (YIKES!). I have one to read this month, which is the only one I am committing to reading.

May Blog Wrap-Up & June Plans

May was a good blogging month, especially considering I was offline for ten days! In total, I published eight posts. Of those eight, there were four Top Ten Tuesday posts, two reviews, and a monthly wrap-up.

What does June hold in store for Read! Bake! Create!? I’m glad you asked. In June, I’m planning four Top Ten Tuesday posts, some book reviews, and a post or two about my trip. I want to write a review about the restaurant on the ship that we ate at. The whole trip was such an amazing experience, and I want to share it. It’s also a trip everyone needs to make at least once in their lifetime!

Personal Stuff

Like I’ve often said, May was a crazy month for me. There was Mother’s Day, my oldest daughter turned 22, my 23rd wedding anniversary, and the day my trip to the Pacific Northwest started. Below are a couple of snapshots from my trip.

Map of the Pacific Northwest showing the majority of the trip from Seattle to Alaska and back.
A photo of the map showing the majority of the course taken from Seattle to Alaska back to Seattle.
A selfie taken from the cruise ship as we were nearing a glacier.

Yes, the trip was cold; it was in Alaska in May, after all! The average temperature was 9C or 48F.

I’m unsure what June has in store for me this year, other than still recovering from my trip! Oh, and I need to start planning a family trip for the summer.

    1. I wish we got closer to the glacier, but it was so exciting to see it. The Mark Harmon book was an interesting read.
