Happy July, y’all! How was your June? Mine seemed to focus on work more than I would have liked, but that’s life! Now it’s full-on summertime, even if the weather doesn’t always agree. The youngest is done with school for the year, yay! But how in the world is she already going into grade 11? This means she only has two years of school unless she pursues post-secondary. I swear, she just started school in the last couple of years. Enough of that! Let’s focus on the more recent past and the near future with my June 2024 wrap-up and a glimpse at my plans for July.
June 2024 Reading Wrap-Up & July TBR
Let’s flashback to my May 2024 Wrap-Up for a glimpse at what I had planned to read in June.
- The Secret History of Audrey James by Heather Marshall
No, I didn’t finish it. I have read about 10%. Why? Because it’s a bit heavier than I want at the moment. That’s not to say I haven’t enjoyed what I’ve read, because I have. It’s just that I’ve read a lot of historical fiction at the moment, and my brain is asking for something a bit fluffier.
Books Read in June 2024
This year, I will try something different with this part of my post. I will give a one—to two-word review of the book. I wonder how that’s going to go. There’s only one way to find out!
Now, let’s check out what I read in June 2024!
Just Haven’t Met You Yet by Sophie Cousens
Review: Right time & place
The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett
Review: Queen reading
A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon by Sarah Hawley
Review: Steamy & Witchy
The Book Of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel
Review: Slow start
The Girl Who Reads on the Métro by Christine Féret-Fleury
Review: Quick & Quirky
Lady Fortescue Steps Out by M.C. Beaton
Review: Quirky historical fiction
Of the seven books I read in June, four were audiobooks. Lately, they seem to be the best way for me to consume books. I did manage to read an ARC that I was behind on. Yay! Of the seven, which was my favorite? That’s a toss-up between Just Haven’t Met You Yet and To Slip the Bonds of Earth.
There were a couple of DNFs in June. The Housekeepers by Alex Hay is an ARC I’ve had since last July. I started reading it in June but couldn’t connect with the characters or the storyline. After 18%, I had to walk away. It’s unfortunate because I was so excited to read The Housekeepers. The other DNF was Counting Down With You. I listened to about 6% of the audiobook and struggled to connect with the characters. I may have to reconsider reading YA books, as they tend to be a DNF.
July TBR
In July, I have two whole ARCs to read. I love these easy months! That said, I have quite a few ARCs on the horizon, so if I can read ahead, that’s good too!
- Chaos at the Lazy Bones Bookshop by Emmeline Duncan
- A Cup of Flour, A Pinch of Death by Valerie Burns
June Blog Wrap-Up & July Plans
In June, I published ten blog posts. I also finished updating my older posts, fixing links, updating graphics, and doing all the fun stuff! Of the ten blog posts in June, three were reviews, four were Top Ten Tuesday posts, and even one was food-related! My June 2021 TTT Ten Books With the Word Day in Their Titles was this month’s most viewed post on my blog. My Summer 2024 TBR was the most viewed post I published in June 2024.
What does July have in store for the blog? Five TTT posts and at least two reviews are planned. Fingers crossed, I can write at least one post each for Foodie Fridays and Creative Corner. There’s also a mid-year wrap-up in the works.
Personal Stuff
June was an okay month for me. Around mid-month, I had a random rash appear on my arm. The doctor said it was just a bout of contact dermatitis. In plain language, I came in contact with something I’m allergic to, but no one knows what or why. Thankfully, it’s cleared up, and there are only a couple of days left of the meds.
We are working on ideas for a weekend together. But we are not 100% sure what that will look like, but we are hoping for fun and something out of our ordinary. We also have a week off in August that we are trying to plan. It’s looking like it will be a staycation for the most part, as some expenses are coming that are part of being a homeowner.
That is my June 2024 wrap-up and July 2024 plans. How was your June? Did you read any good books? What are your plans for July?

As I read your post, I am scratching my arms like crazy as I came in contact with something that I have reacted to. I will visit the clinic tomorrow to get some meds as I am having trouble sleeping. Have a wonderful month of reading and blogging.
I’m sorry to make your arm itchy! I hope you feel better soon.

I have seen A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon around a lot lately! It looks really cute… but I hadn’t realized it was all that steamy! Good to know. 😉 I hope you have a great weekend away, whatever you decide to plan!
I hope you and the kids are enjoying summer! I’m glad the rash went away. I get random rashes too. I once got one on my eyelid that REALLY sucked.
