Happy July y’all! How was your June? Mine wasn’t too bad, except for the week my youngest was sick right before the end of school. The temperatures have been going up and down. Sadly, the smoke from the forest fires hundreds of miles away has also been a problem for the past few weeks. Now let’s look at my June 2023 wrap-up and July 2023 plans.

June 2023 Wrap-Up & July 2023 Plans

June 2023 Reading Wrap-Up & July 2023 TBR

Let’s flashback to my April 2023 Wrap-Up for a glimpse at what I had planned to read in June.

Of the four books on my TBR, I finished reading three, and one was a DNF.

Books Read in June 2023

Book Cover

Other People’s Houses by Abbi Waxman (audio) | Miss Matched by Wendy Million (review)

Murder is a Piece of Cake by Valerie Burns (review) | The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George

Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P. Manasala | The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory (audio)

The Comfort Book by Matt Haig (audio) | Laughing with the Trickster by Tomson Highway

The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (audio)

The only true 5-star read I had in June was Laughing with the Trickster, though Miss Matched was a 4.5-star read for me.

I did have four DNF in June. And I feel terrible about the one, After Anne, as it is an ARC I was invited to read. I enjoy reading historical fiction, but it wasn’t organized in a way that made sense. The story would jump from 1942 back to an unknown time to 1906 to 1919 back to 1906 back to an unknown time. Talk about confusing! The other three were Saturday Night at the Lakeside Supper Club by J. Ryan Stradal, The Bookshop of Secrets by Mollie Rushmeyer, and The Bookshop of Yesterdays by Amy Meyerson. None of the stories held my attention.

July 2023 TBR

In July, I have three ARCS to read. The only other book I’m hoping to get done this month is for a year-long challenge. The challenge I’m doing this year is Buzzwordathon from Kayla at Books and Lala. Four books make it a short TBR, but hopefully, one I can complete with ease!

Blogging Wrap-Up and Plans

June wasn’t a terrible month for blogging, as I managed to get eight posts. Of those eight posts, four were Top Ten Tuesday posts and two reviews. I haven’t done much in the way of food content this year. Nor have I done anything with the creative part. I hope to change that this month.

The most popular post from June was Celebrate Pride with a List of Ten Books. The most popular post overall from June was one I posted in September 2022, Ten Book Titles Starting with the Letter A.

June Life Updates

There isn’t much to share on the personal front for June 2023. I finally made the appointment with the doctor to make myself a priority. While I didn’t get positive news (nothing terrible either!), none of it was unexpected. Does that make sense?

In July, I’m not sure how my posting schedule will go. Why? Because we have a couple of trips coming up this month. One trip is just a weekend getaway with my youngest. The other is a week-long trip back home (for the first time in nine years!).

June 2023 Wrap-Up & July 2023 Plans

That is my June 2023 wrap-up and July 2023 plans. How was your June? Did you read any good books? What are your plans for July?

  1. That’s disappointing when we get several dnfs or meh reads in a row. I’ve given up on Stradal. Happy July reading!

    1. Saturday Night was the first book of Stradal’s I tried. I do have another on TBR that I hope to enjoy.

      1. I tried 2. I DNFed Kitchens and was able to finish Lager Queen. I’m an outlier for him I fear. I did hear him interviewed and he is engaging and delightful!

  2. Looks like you had a productive reading month! Thank you for highlighting “Laughing with the Trickster.” It’s a book I’m eager to read myself.

  3. Hello Stranger is wonderful–my review comes out next Monday. I’ve now put After Anne on my TBR thanks to you! I’ll wait for your review of Door To Door Bookstore.

    1. I hope to get my review of Door-to-Door Bookstore up in a few days. It is such a perfect read!

  4. Sorry to hear the fires have been impacting you. Hope that improves soon. I’ve been meaning to read something by Matthew Haig for ages but it just hasn’t happened yet.

  5. Wow, that was a lot of DNFs for a month. I did enjoy a couple of them, but that is why there are so many books and authors as we all like different things. I hope July is wonderful and you enjoy your holidays, Pam.
