Wait, how in the world is it already August? Don’t get me wrong, the weather certainly agrees with it being August—hot, humid, and sticky! YUCK! But 2024 feels like it’s flying by. How? Why? Anyway, how was your July? Did you have lots of adventures and read lots of good books? Check out my July 2024 wrap-up below to see how my month went.

July 2024 Reading Wrap-Up & August TBR

Let’s flashback to my June 2024 Wrap-Up for a glimpse at what I had planned to read in July.

Of the nine books I read in July, four were audiobooks. That means I read more with my eyes, for a change! My favorite book in July was The Thursday Murder Club; I enjoyed it so much that I handed it to my husband to read when he gets the chance. My second favorite has to be Chaos at the Lazy Bones Bookshop. Who knew a Halloween-based cozy mystery was needed? I

DNFed three books this month. The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie was a bit confusing, with random time jumps in the middle of a chapter. In a Holidaze, it was a bit whiny. Was the main character a teenager or an adult? The Personal Librarian may be a fascinating story, but I struggled to connect.

August TBR

I don’t have any ARCs to read for August—yippee! But I have quite a few for September and October, so I will try to read ahead. Who knows, maybe I’ll feel inspired to read some of the ARCs I’m behind on, too.

July Blog Wrap-Up & August Plans

In July, I published 13 posts. Four of those 13 were reviews; five were Top Ten Tuesday posts, a few wrap-up and check-in posts, and even one food-related post. My most popular post in July was Debut Novels I’ve Read and Enjoyed. It was also the most popular post period in the month, which is pretty cool since it was published on July 23.

What does August look like for the blog? I know for sure there will be four Top Ten Tuesday posts. I’d like to write a couple of reviews. There is even a cookbook review in the works. So stay tuned!

Personal Stuff

Hubby and I had a whole three-day weekend off together. Of course, we did have to plan it a bit, but it’s nice to have those sometimes. We did a mini staycation and went to a new town a couple of hours away and explored a bit, went to a huge farmers’ market (where I bought a couple of Agatha Christie books I’d never seen), and bought a new TV as the one we use in the basement died (it was 14 years old). I also started taking an online blogging course. So far, it’s feeling pretty remedial, but it is designed for someone who hasn’t started blogging yet.

What’s August looking like? I’m unsure, though Hubby and I have a week off! We’ll be staying close to home for most of it, as July was a bit expensive. I’d like to do some work around the house, mainly changing a couple of faucets since we can shut off the water now. We also wanted to try a restaurant in July but had a 2-hour wait. Fingers crossed, we can try it this month.

That is my July 2024 wrap-up and August 2024 plans. How was your July? Did you read any good books? What are your plans for August?

    1. So far it’s been focusing on setting up a blog, chosing between Blogger and WordPress (the course is focusing on free accounts), what widgets to get and how they work. There’s also a few classes about creating a podcast.

  1. This looks like a great reading month! The Thursday Murder Club is a book I’ve been meaning to try for ages, but haven’t gotten to yet. Hopefully soon! It’s been sitting on my physical shelf for a while now.

  2. The Sun and the Star being dark and broody is not a surprise with Mark Oshiro as one of the authors. I just read one of their previous novels and it was very emotional. Staycations can be so much more enjoyable than going somewhere. Hope you have a lovely August!
