It’s time for another book tag. Yay Thursday! This week in the Northern Hemisphere, Summer arrived. Ironically enough, it happened on Father’s Day! Summertime brings hopes and dreams of sweet food, warm days, road trips, and cookouts with friends and family. I had trouble finding a book tag for the summer that I liked, so I decided to make one of my own.
Summertime, here we come!
Summer Vacation
What fictional location would you like to take a summer vacation?
Part of me wants to stick close to home and go with the cottage from When You Get the Chance. The book is set in Ontario, Canada. Most of the book is about 2 hours from where I live. However, part of me also wants to travel, especially after the past year or so. That said, I’ll go with Winchester, England, from A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow. My husband is from England. Actually, he was born in Winchester. So that means we would be able to see some of his family, and I might get to see some of the places he grew up.
Watermelon
A Book with Pink or Green on the Cover
A pink cover is easy. I have to go with Right Swipe; I mean that pink is pretty close to watermelon pink. For a green cover, I have to go with The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie.
Sunflowers
A Book with Yellow on the Cover
I just looked through my Goodreads books. I never realized how few books actually have yellow on the cover. That’s really surprising to me. However, I did find one that I really enjoyed a couple of years ago, The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald.
Barbecues
A Fictional Family You Would Invite to a Barbecue
Hands down, I have to go with the Weasleys, but only if both Fred and George can be there! I could picture Arthur’s fascination with the whole event, between the food and drink to the games. He would want to know how it all works. Fred and George would be running around playing pranks, and Ginny would probably not be far behind. Ron would be hiding and enjoying his plate of food without being harassed. But we all know that wouldn’t last too long. Molly would be in total mom-mode and making sure there’s enough food for everyone. And probably also on clean-up. Though I’m not sure she could handle not using magic to do all of that.
Road Trip
Fictional Characters You Would Road Trip With
I really want to say, Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase. But, is that wrong of me, especially given their history for trips? Just a simple cross-country road trip, no monsters, just lots of fun. And maybe a dam bathroom?
Here Comes the Summer
A Book Releasing This Summer You Are Looking Forward To Reading
This is a tough one, as I don’t have many books on my TBR coming out this summer. Shame on me! But I did find one that I am looking forward to reading. The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams is a debut novel scheduled for August 3, 2021. It’s a story of how a random reading list creates an unlikely friendship.
Fun In The Sun
A Book About a Fun Summer Activity
Baseball is a fun summer activity, right? Of course, it is! I’m going with the middle-grade book The Brooklyn Nine by Alan Gratz. This book follows a family’s history with the sport of baseball. Each generation is connected to the next in some way by the sport.
Ice Cream
A Fictional Character You Would Share Ice Cream With
An ice cream date? Hmmm, I definitely would have to go with Reyes Farrow from the Charley Davidson Series by Darynda Jones. But, of course, he may make all of the ice cream melt with his hotness!
Just Keep Swimming
A Book With Water On The Cover
Not only does The Supreme Macaroni Company by Adriana Trigiani have water on the cover, but it also has a swimming grotto. In Italy!
Music Festival
A Book About A Musician/Group
For this one, I could have gone with a non-fiction book. But that seemed too easy. So instead, I went with The Final Revival of Opal & Nev by Dawnie Walton.
Did I hit the highlights of summer for you? I would love to know your answers to these questions.
