Happy Foodie Friday! This week I decided to share a list of Fun Foodie Holidays in February 2022. I know February isn’t here yet, but it soon will be. How else will we celebrate these holidays if we don’t know about them ahead of time? And don’t we need time to prepare?
I’ve always been intrigued by the concept of National months and days. Who creates these holidays? Why do they make them? And most of all, how do they celebrate these days? To celebrate a few of these holidays, I will try to compile posts for the month. That way you can celebrate as well.
I compiled this list of holidays from a much more extensive list at National Day Calendar. For more information about each holiday, click on the name, and it will give you more details about that holiday. The holidays that are in italics are international celebrations.
National Food Months in February 2022
I must say a few of these holidays make sense. February is generally when the NFL’s Super Bowl is held, and the parties that surround the event are full of snacks! Cherries are often associated with love, and February’s biggest holiday is Valentine’s Day.

National Food Weeks in February 2022
It appears that the food holidays in February are all in the same week. And look, it coincides with Valentine’s Day!

National Food Days in February 2022
It looks like every day in February, except February 8, has some holiday connected to it. Some sound like fun (February 5 Ice Cream for Breakfast Day), while others have me scratching my head (February 17 Cabbage Day). There is even one day with multiple holidays that work together (February 24 is Tortilla Day and Chili Day, a perfect pairing, in my opinion).

Wow, that’s a lot of food holidays! I think that I will celebrate banana bread month, though. I’ve been wanting to make banana bread for a while now.
I’ll also be celebrating Lunar New Year with food next month. Yum.
I’m looking forward to Cherry Pie day! And my daughter will be looking forward to Strawberry day. Seems strange to have Strawberry day in February, seems like a spring/summer fruit to me.
I agree about the strawberries! My guess is they are celebrated in February because they are red. And chocolate covered ones are popular for Valentine’s Day.
Most of these sound good to me. I follow National Day Calendar on Instagram with vague ideas of tying posts into weird holidays but I am not organized enough for that. Instead, their posts just make me hungry!
Yum! These all make me so hungry, lol.
I just had ice-cream for breakfast and it’s only the first… Guess I’ll have to do it again on the fifth!
