Happy Tuesday, y’all! It’s the first Tuesday of August. Can you believe it? I know I can’t. I mean, where has the year gone? This week, Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl has handed the reins over to A Hot Cup of Pleasure. And what topic did A Hot Cup of Pleasure pick? They want us to share our favorite books from our favorite series. So I decided to twist that a bit and will be sharing the first books in ten favorite series.

First Books in Ten Favorite Series

I have read at least one book in these series and eagerly hope to read more. I say that way because some of these series have only one published so far. But a reader can always hope, right? The titles will take you to the book’s Goodreads page.

Now let’s check out the first books in ten favorite series!

  • Genre: Paranormal Romance, Mystery
  • Release Date: February 2011

Class Mom by Laurie Gelman

That’s the first book in ten of my favorite series. Have you read any of these books? What are some of your favorite series novels?

    1. It’s a fun cozy mystery set around Christmas, but isn’t holiday forward.

  1. Great twist on the topic! I would’ve found today’s post a lot easier to do if I had stuck to first books in a series because it seems I start a lot of them but finish very few 😂

  2. I haven’t read any of these, but almost all of them are on my TBR list. I couldn’t get into CLASS MOM, unfortunately. The MC was so obnoxious to me that I DNF’d the book! I’m glad you enjoyed it, though.

    Happy TTT!

    1. I picked it up at a time I needed something light and fun. And as someone who was on the PTA for a few years, I found a lot of that relatable (though I never acted like Jen).

    1. It’s a steamy paranormal romance with mystery. The last couple of books weren’t as much fun as the early ones.

  3. Clever take on our week’s prompt. I had to rely on my Goodreads ratings to inform my decision about favorites. Generally speaking, I don’t read on if I don’t like book #1 so I had a hard time thinking about separate books within series since they tend to meld into my brain as one book. Wein’s books are different. They could all be seperate books since they are loosely related but don’t rely on each other to communicate a wonderful whole.

    1. I’m not a huge series reader either. The first book has to hook me, and the subsequent ones need to keep me hooked.

  4. Colleen’s and Amanda’s both look interesting. May be two series I need to read more about. 🙂

  5. I like the look of so many of those books. Holmes Margaret and Poe annoyed me with the title change. It confused me no end when I was trying to post about it 🤣

    Have a great week!

    1. It’s a cozy mystery set around Halloween, in a town that leans into it’s history of filming family friendly Halloween movies. It’s quite a fun read.

  6. I love that you highlighted Up to No Gouda, since that’s one of my favorite cozy mystery series! I also really love the sound of Chaos at the Lazy Bones Bookshop – it seems perfect for spooky season!
