Happy March y’all! Today, the month is coming in pretty lamb-like. This weekend is another story; the forecast is 12-30 cm (6-15 in) of snow. 😮 I think that means it’s a perfect weekend to curl up and read, don’t you? But first, let’s take a look at my February 2023 wrap-up!
Reading Wrap-Up for February 2023 & March 2023 TBR
Let’s flashback to my January 2023 Wrap-Up for a reminder of what I said I wanted to read in February.
- The All You Can Dream Buffet by Barbara O’Neal
- Maureen by Rachel Joyce (ARC)
- In Farm’s Way by Amanda Flower (ARC)
- Woman Enters Left by Jessica Brockmole (Buzzwordathon)
I finished three of the four. It’s painful as I was 75% in on The All You Can Dream Buffet when I decided to DNF. I found I didn’t care about the story.
Books Read in February 2023
Maureen by Rachel Joyce (review) | Haikyu!! Vol 2 by Haruichi Furudate
In Farm’s Way by Amanda Flower (review) | Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins-Valdez
Women Enters Left by Jessica Brockmole | The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberly & Austin Siegmund-Broka
A Town Called Solace by Mary Lawson | Dead and Gondola by Ann Claire
My favorite read of the month is Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins-Valdez, followed closely by A Town Called Solace by Mary Lawson and Maureen by Rachel Joyce.
March 2023 TBR
My TBR for March isn’t as crazy as some months, I promise! I have one ARC, and one challenge book, So that, is a total of two books. The challenge I’m doing this year is Buzzwordathon from Kayla at Books and Lala. See, I told you it wasn’t that crazy! But I will add a couple of books that I picked up from the library at the end of February.
- The Agathas by Kathleen Glasgow
- VenCo by Cherie Dimaline
- Gigi, Listening/Two for the Road by Chantel Guertin (ARC)
- Secrets from the Vinyl Cafe by Stuart McLean (Buzzwordathon)
Blogging Wrap-Up & Plans
In February 2023, I published eight posts. While not a lot, nor near what I had planned, I’m still happy with what I did post. Of the eight posts, there were two reviews, four Top Ten Tuesday posts, and one wrap-up. My most popular post of February 2023 was My Ten Favorite Fictional Families.
In March 2023, I have a few posts planned. There will be one review, four Top Ten Tuesday posts, and a TBR Shelf Clean-Up. I am hoping to get a few Foodie Friday posts up as well. Do you have any suggestions?
Personal Wrap-Up & Plans
Not a lot to report on the personal front for February. My work schedule was still pretty scrambled because of staffing issues. March is bringing a massive change on that front, though. Starting March 6, I will be working the day shift instead of the overnight shift I’ve worked for the past 15 months. It’s going to be quite the adjustment in many ways.
One positive change I hope to make with the shift change is finding more time for exercise. I’m unhappy with my weight; I have gained close to 100 pounds in the past four years. I would love to blame it on the pandemic, but it’s more to the fact I had my thyroid removed in 2019.
I’m also hoping the change will help my mental health as well. I’ve been in quite the funk over the past year or so, and I suspect a huge part of that is the lack of sunshine (not that I’m a huge outdoor person). Maybe I’ll finally be able to feel creative as well!
That is my February 2023 wrap-up and March 2023 plans. How was your February? Did you read any good books? What are your plans for March?

It sounds like you have some good changes coming up! I’m not much of an outdoorsy person these days either, but I do enjoy sunlight. Curling up cat-like in a sunny spot with a book sounds wonderful, for example. I hope you have a lovely March!
Playing cat is one of my favorite things to do on a sunny afternoon!
I hope your work changes help your health and happiness. You sure had a good month of reading
Take My Hand is on my TBR and I’m so glad to hear that you really enjoyed it. It looks great! It looks like you have some big changes coming up in March but I hope that they’ll be for the positive 🙂 Have a great month ahead!
Be prepared for an emotional read!
I worked the night shift for 11 years. I’m a night owl by nature but it still took a toll. I knew I felt bad but I didn’t even realize how bad until I went on days. You forget what normal even feels like. I hope this change gives you more energy for the exercising you want to do. And it’s coming just in time for Daylight Savings Time so hopefully that extra hour of daylight will help too!
Overnight shifts can really mess with your mental health. Even just very late night shifts can. I hope the day shifts will help change that.
