Happy 2024 y’all! We’ve made it to a new year, which means new beginnings. But first, we need to tie up some loose ends. Who’s ready for the December 2023 wrap-up and a look at plans for January 2024.

December 2023 Wrap-Up & January 2024 Plans

December 2023 Reading Wrap-Up & January 2024 TBR

Let’s flashback to my November Wrap-Up for a glimpse at what I had planned to read in December.

I managed to read two of the three books. One took much longer to read than I thought it would.

Books Read In December

Heartstopper, volume 4 by Alice Oseman | Mrs. Porter Calling by AJ Pearce | It Happened One Christmas by Chantel Guertin | Happy Life of Isadora Bentley by Courtney Walsh | Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory

Covers of books read in December 2023 for a December 2023 Wrap-Up.

On the Plus Side by Jenny L. Howe | Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree | Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan | Heartstopper, volume 5 by Alice Oseman

I had several fantastic reads in December. But On the Plus Side just eeked out the win for best read for the win. The other contenders were the two Heartstopper books and Bookshops & Bonedust. It Happened One Christmas was my least favorite read.

January 2024 TBR

In January, I’m keeping the TBR easy. How? I have two ARCs to read, that’s it. Yes, I have some ARCs I’m carrying over from 2023, but I’m not putting them on my TBR as I’m not sure I’ll get to them this month.

Blog Wrap-Up & Plans

December wasn’t a super successful month of blogging for me, but it wasn’t terrible either. In total, I published seven posts. Of the seven posts, there are three reviews and two Top Ten Tuesday posts. I missed two Top Ten Tuesday posts because of the holidays. Speaking of which, I hope everyone had a great time with their family and friends!

I plan to publish two reviews and five Top Ten Tuesday posts for January. Fingers crossed, I’ll also be able to get a cookbook review done this month.

The most popular post I published in December is Winter 2024 TBR: Ten Books I Hope To Read. The most popular post overall from December was one I posted in September 2022, Ten Book Titles Starting with the Letter A.

December Life Updates

Not a lot has changed around here. We’re still trying to get the living room back together after it took us two months to paint. Then the holidays happened, and we still need to pack that stuff. But I promise to share some before and after pictures of the painting.

My work schedule will return to “normal” in January. We were short a person for three months, which meant a slightly different schedule. It means some adjustments. I’m also hoping to get more exercise in preparation for a trip I’m taking in May with my mom.

I have a couple of bookish craft projects I want to work on in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed, I can get them done and get some posts written about them.

That is my December 2023 wrap-up and January 2024 plans. How was your December? Did you read any good books? What are your plans for January?

  1. Wasn’t Bookshops & Bonedust fun? I really enjoyed that book a lot. I wonder if Baldree has more planned for this universe? — strike that, I just looked it up. It seems that Tor has contracted with Baldree for 3 more standalone books set in this universe. I look forward to seeing what stories he comes up with!

  2. I hope you have a wonderful January, Pam. Glad your life is settling down. The bustle of December is enough without the extra work you had.
