Happy September, y’all! Summer is done, not officially until the end of the month, but unofficially. The kids will all be back at school in the coming days. There are only four months left in 2024. Can someone please explain how that happened? I mean, the tree in my front yard is starting to show signs of fall. While I love fall, can we slow time down a bit? How was your August? Let’s check out my August 2024 wrap-up for a glimpse.

Review: It’s an ok read

Yes, I read a lot of mysteries in August. It’s what my brain wanted, and who am I to deny my brain? My favorite book for the month was Death at the Sanatorium. Ragnar Jónasson’s writing is perfect, in my opinion, and I hope to read more of his writing. While I finished it, The Husbands was probably my biggest disappointment of the month.

September 2024 TBR

I have one ARC left to read for September. But I also have a pile to read for October, so I’ll add one of those to this month’s TBR.

August Blog Wrap-Up and September Plans

In August, I published nine blog posts. Two were reviews, and four were Top Ten Tuesday posts. The most popular post of the nine was First Books in Ten Favorite Series. This month’s most popular post was Ten Book Titles Starting with the Letter A.

There will be four Top Ten Tuesday posts in September and at least two book reviews. I can also inform you that a cookbook review is dropping this month. I had intended for the cookbook review to be up in August, but life happens.

Personal Stuff

Remember how I said we wanted to change a couple of faucets in August? Yeah, that plan changed when we tried changing the one in the kitchen. How? The faucet was permanently attached to the sink, so a quick and inexpensive change turned into a pricey sink change. I wasn’t going to go at least three weeks without a sink, so we had to settle for the only available option.

Our vacation a few weeks later was a staycation. We spent the time getting the youngest one ready for school; thankfully, she doesn’t need a lot of stuff anymore. I’m proud of myself because one of the things we did was a visit to a reptile zoo, and I touched a python. Why am I proud of that? Because I am deathly afraid of snakes, but I have slowly started to be desensitized to them thanks to my daughter. How has she done this? She enjoys watching videos about snakes and snake breeders and hopes to do the same in the future.

What does September have in store for me? I have a couple of personal challenges I want to tackle. One is health-related. I’ve been slowly altering my diet by adding more protein and fiber. This month, I want to add more movement to my day. I’m not 100% certain how that will look, but I hope to increase my movement day-to-day. Another challenge I want to try is doing something creative every day. I owe my future daughter-in-law a personalized stocking, which is on the agenda. But I want to get back into hand lettering as well. Who knows, maybe both projects will become blog posts.

That is my August 2024 wrap-up and September 2024 plans. How was your August? Did you read any good books? What are your plans for September?

  1. After reading several reviews for Husbands, I took it off my TBR shelf. Too bad about your sink, I’ve not heard of the faucet being attached. I hope you have a wonderful September, Pam.
