Happy May, y’all! April was over in a blink, right? It wasn’t just me, was it? Maybe it’s because I’ve got a big trip in a couple of weeks, and it’s been on my radar since last summer. Perhaps it’s because May is a busy month in my household, with Mother’s Day, the oldest child’s birthday, and our wedding anniversary in the same week. But let’s get to why we’re all here-my April 2024 wrap-up.
April 2024 Reading Wrap-Up & May TBR
Let’s flashback to my March 2024 Wrap-Up for a glimpse at what I had planned to read in April.
- The Secret Keeper by Genevieve Graham
- The Celestial Wife by Leslie Howard
- Prairie Edge by Conor Kerr
- A Murder Most French by Colleen Cambridge
I’m proud to report that I read an ARC from my March TBR. Does that count? No? Okay, I also read one from my April TBR and started another. I am so far behind with my ARCs this year, but incredibly, I’m still getting approvals. But I have backed off on requesting them until I catch up.
Books Read in April 2024
This year, I will try something different with this part of my post. I will give a one—to two-word review of the book. I wonder how that’s going to go. There’s only one way to find out!
Now, let’s check out what I read in April 2024!
The Authenticity Project by Clare Pooley
Review: Never overlook those around you!
Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert
Review: Friends to enemies to friends to dating.
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
Review: Almost a DNF, mostly okay.
The Second Chance Hotel by Sierra Godfrey
Review: Finding what you need.
The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods
Review: The past helps define the future.
April was another month full of audiobooks, as five of the seven books I read were audiobooks. They are just so easy to consume. I must have enjoyed reading most of these, as I rated six at 4.5 out of 5 stars. The only miss was Lessons in Chemistry, which I gave 3.75 stars. Which is my favorite of the month? I’m not sure I can pick one. Do you have any suggestions?
May 2024 TBR
I’m taking it easy on myself this month with only two books on my TBR. Maybe that means I can get caught up, right?
April Blog Wrap-Up & May Plans
April was a busy month for blogging. In total, I published 13 posts. Five of those 13 were Top Ten Tuesday posts; three were reviews, three were check-ins, and even a cookbook review! Yay, I managed to get a food post done in April! I’ve also been reviewing all my posts and updating links and images. Sadly, that means I’ve had to pull a few down, but only until I figure out how to update the images without going crazy!
I’m not 100% sure what May will bring me in the blogging world. I know that I have four posts written and scheduled to go up when I’m writing this. There is also a review of a book I just finished coming. It was out of my usual range of books, but I was hooked early on! That’s at least five posts this month. Fingers crossed, I can manage at least one more review, maybe even a couple more.
Personal Stuff
I did manage to knock some things off my to-do list for my trip in a couple of weeks. It just means I’ll have to get serious about it in the next day or so. Either I get the stuff done, or it doesn’t happen at all! The main things I have to pick up for my trip are the small things no one really thinks about.
On the last weekend of April, my husband and I spent some time just the two of us. He’s a bit sad about my trip coming up because the day I fly out is our anniversary. It’s going to be the first time in 23 years that we won’t be together that day. We had a great time visiting different bookstores and just being together.
We’re also bumping up a few other things because of the trip, like celebrating the oldest’s birthday. Why did she have to be born three days before our anniversary? And so close to Mother’s Day?
All in all, May is going to be a busy month for me—one that I hope is full of happy memories!
That is my April 2024 wrap-up and May 2024 plans. How was your April? Did you read any good books? What are your plans for May?

Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute sounds adorable. Your single-sentence review already has me interested. 😀 Seems like May will be super busy and full of celebrations — it’s sad that you won’t be able to celebrate them on the exact dates, but I hope you all have fun regardless! Enjoy your big trip as well — so jealous, and I don’t even know where you’re going. 😄
It was a fun read, and I hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to read it. May is always a busy month for us, but my trip is making it a bit more so. As for where I’m going, it’s a bucket list trip for my mom. We’re going on an Alaskan cruise for a week.
