Howdy, y’all! It’s time for my April 2026 Goodreads TBR Shelf Clean-Up. I wonder if this will help me reduce the number of books on my TBR. Who am I kidding? I’m a reader; of course, I’ll always add books. In March 2026, I had 608 books. Today, I have 603. Will my April 2026 Goodreads TBR shelf clean-up help bring that number down more?

The Celestial Wife by Leslie Howard

1964. My Thoughts

I actually received an ARC for this book when it was released in 2024. I found myself unsure if I really wanted to read it after the fact. As of yet, it’s still unread. But I believe I deleted the eARC that I had received. Almost two years later, I’m still not interested in reading it.

Moonrise Over New Jessup by Jamila Minnicks

It’s 1957, and after leaving the only home she has ever known, Alice Young steps off the bus into the all-Black town of New Jessup, Alabama, where residents have largely rejected integration as the means for Black social advancement. Instead, they seek to maintain and fortify the community they cherish on their “side of the woods.” In this place, Alice falls in love with Raymond Campbell, whose clandestine organizing activities challenge New Jessup’s longstanding status quo and could lead to the young couple’s expulsion—or worse—from the home they both hold dear. My Thoughts

As I have a copy of this book on my shelf, I have no excuse not to read it.

The Secret Keeper by Genevieve Graham

Twin sisters Dot and Dash Wilson share many things, and while they are practically inseparable, they are nothing alike. My Thoughts

This is another one I received an ARC for in 2024. I didn’t read it then, because I was feeling burned out on high-stakes historical fiction. While I’ve started reading some high-stakes historical fiction, I’m not sure I want to read this.

Ian Fleming’s Commandos by Nicholas Rankin

In 1942, Lieutenant-Commander Ian Fleming was personal assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence – the dynamic figure behind James Bond’s fictional chief, ‘M’. Here, Fleming had a brilliant idea: why not set up a unit of authorized looters, men who would go in hard with the front-line troops and steal enemy intelligence?

Known as ’30 Assault Unit’, they took part in the major campaigns of the Second World War, landing on the Normandy beaches and helping to liberate Paris. 30AU’s final amazing coup was to seize the entire archives of the German Navy – thirty tons of documents. Ian Fleming flew out in person to get the loot back to Britain, where it was combed for evidence to use in the Nuremberg trials.

My Thoughts

I’ve always been interested in the story of Ian Fleming and where he found inspiration for James Bond.

That is my April 2026 Goodreads TBR Shelf Clean-Up. It appears to have affected my shelf, as I’m deleting two of the books. LOL!

This was fun. I may do it now and then to help keep my shelf realistic. In the past, I had added books without giving them much thought. Will I stop doing that? Of course not! What kind of animal do you think I am?
