Good morning, y’all! We’re in the final days before Christmas is here. And just over a week until 2024 ends. I figured now would be an excellent time for a goal check. Earlier this year, I shared some goals for 2024; you can find them here. This is my final check-in towards those goals. You can see the first three here, here, and here. So, let’s check out my goals for 2024 final check-in.

Goals for 2024 Final Check-In

Goodreads Goal: 52

I hit that goal over the summer and never changed it. With around a week left in the year, I’m not sure what my final numbers will be for 2024, but I don’t think I’ll surpass last year’s 104.

Read More Owned Books

I started the year off strong by reading the books I own. But as the year progressed, I was distracted by many new and shiny books. Maybe in 2025, I’ll set a target for owned books that I hope to read. I have a few series I hope to finish, and the books are sitting on my shelves, just waiting to be read.

Write More Backlist Reviews

I find this funny because I’ve barely written any backlist reviews in 2024. In 2025, I’ll set a target to aim for instead of leaving it open-ended by saying more.

Write More Food Posts

Blogmas helped me increase the number of food posts. In total, there are a baker’s dozen. For 2025, I have a few ideas to help me have at least two monthly posts.

Write Craft/Creative Posts

Like the food post, Blogmas helped me increase the number of creative posts published this year. I’m working on a few ideas to help me be more consistent with these posts.

Post More Consistently

Top Ten Tuesday posts are the only things I’ve written and published consistently in 2024. I don’t think I missed a week, even when unplugged and on vacation without internet access.

More Time Planning/Prepping Posts

Other than my Goodreads reading goal, this is one goal I have been super successful with. It was invaluable when the holidays were on the horizon, and I wanted to give Blogmas an attempt. What do I mean? Honestly, most of the posts published in December were written in advance. My work schedule helps with the planning and prepping of posts. I have started working on many posts during my weekend shifts, which are eight-hour shifts with minimal distractions. Perfect for focusing on what you want to do.

Update Graphics

I have continued using a similar format for my blog graphics and enjoy the look. I want to work on ideas for my serial posts (Colorful Covers and Alphabet Challenge); those graphics feel a bit blah to me. Maybe I can persuade my husband or daughter to develop a new graphic for the blog. While I like what I made, I know it can be better.

Try Instagram

I have started using my Instagram account. You can find me over there at readbakecreate. My Instagram is a work in progress. I’m trying to be better at posting there. One brag I do have is that an author liked my post for my review of their book. Yay!

Increase Views/Visits

I feel this is something every blogger strives to improve. Below are my stats from 2023. I don’t think there’s anything to be upset about, as they have increased yearly since I started blogging in 2021.

ViewsVisitorsPosts
20,79215,616106

I’m sure my views and visitors will be higher this year than last year. I know the number of posts published will be higher, with Blogmas adding 24 posts when it’s all said and done.

That’s my goals for 2024 final check-in. I’m happy with how my goals for 2024 went. How did you do with your goals for 2024? Are there any you changed? Do you have any you struggled with?

  1. Great post! My check-in will be up as a Top Ten Tuesday post instead of this week’s topic because I won’t get books for Christmas 🙂

  2. I always see some of the most fun and creative posts on your blog 🙂 It’s always very inspiring! I also enjoy the graphics you make! I can’t remember if I’m already following you on IG cos I don’t go on there too often anymore but I’ll do so if not yet. Great review of your goals and I hope 2025 will be even more amazing for you, your reading and your blog! 🎉
