Here we are just over a week away from the end of 2024. Is it just me, or did 2024 fly by? I know the beginning of the year flew by because I had an adventure to look forward to in May. And after that adventure? Time kept flying by! In 2025, I don’t have any significant adventures to look forward to. But there is one in 2026 that is in the works. I’m also not a huge fan of New Year’s Resolutions. That feels like setting yourself up for failure. So, instead, I’m trying to set some goals for 2025. Today, I’m sharing ten goals I hope to achieve in 2025.

Ten Goals I Hope to Achieve in 2025: Personal Goals

Some of these goals are one-time things, while others I hope to repeat monthly. A few others are long-term, life-changing goals.

Goal 1: Job Satisfaction

Many people say they aren’t happy in their jobs and want to change that. It could be something as simple as saying yes or no more to projects, or it may be changing jobs altogether. Honestly, I’m unsure which path I will take with this goal. I love things about my job and others that I absolutely hate. Some of the things I hate are not ones I can easily remedy, and some of the things I love are ones that I can find in many other jobs.

Goal 2: Healthier Lifestyle

In recent months, I have gotten a wake-up call from my doctor. I have struggled with my weight my entire life, but now I am at the heaviest I have ever been. Many of my health indicators are not in a reasonable range, and that scares me. My biggest issue is knowing what to do, but I don’t want to do it. Ugh! I plan on taking small steps and making small changes so I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. Maybe I’ll start a series on my blog, or at least my Instagram, to hold myself accountable.

Goal 3: Plan and Save for a Big Trip

My husband and I have had a few discussions about taking a trip in 2026. A few milestones are on the horizon, such as turning 50 in 2025 and our 25th wedding anniversary in 2026. With these milestones, we want to do something special. We never took a honeymoon when we got married. And we’ve never taken more than an overnight trip for just the two of us. Then again, the trip we’re discussing taking in 2026 wouldn’t just be us. We’d invite our daughters along. But that’s because we’ve never really taken a trip as a family that didn’t involve visiting other family members. And the trip we’re discussing would not involve that. What’s the trip? An Alaskan cruise.

I went with my mom in May, as it had been on her bucket list for as long as I can remember. And it was a trip she and my dad kept putting off. They made plans and were close to finalizing them, and then COVID hit. And then, my dad passed away in 2021. I was happy to join her on her journey to see someplace she had always wanted to see. After getting there and feeling so at peace, I want to share that experience with my family.

Goal 4: Monthly Dates with my Husband

Due to work schedules, my husband and I don’t see much of each other. Basically, we’re on opposite schedules. And while there’s not much we can do about that, short of changing jobs, we try to spend days off with each other. In 2025, I’d like us to do more than hang out at home and play board games every weekend. Don’t get me wrong, I love our time doing that. But getting out of the house and exploring a bit isn’t a bad idea. Is it?

Goal 5: Monthly Dates with Myself

As I said above, I’m turning 50 in 2025. I’ve been a wife for 23 years and a mom for 22, and I feel like I’ve lost touch with who I am in those years. Don’t get me wrong; I’ve done things for myself. But most of the time, the things I do, especially on my days off, are for other people. But I always feel guilty when I take the time to get a massage or a haircut. I typically squeeze those in around my work schedule and rarely get to take time to breathe and enjoy myself.

Goal 6: Get a Bookish Tattoo

For most of my adult life, I have gone back and forth with wanting a tattoo. I’ll say I want one, get myself excited, and then not do it because I’m scared. I’ve never been 100% certain what I want to have on my body permanently. I’m still unsure what I want, but I have decided that 2025 is the year I do it!

Goal 7: Complete a 100-Day Project

If you’re unfamiliar with the 100-day project, it’s doing something for 100 days straight. Many people use it to develop a new habit. I attempted to do one in 2020 or 2021 when I wasn’t working. My mission was to try making 100 new recipes from my Pinterest boards. I made it through about 50 days. Not bad, but I want to give it a go in the new year.

What should the challenge be? I’ll probably add it to one of my other goals. Maybe set aside a certain amount of money every day for a trip? Or go for a walk every day for 30 minutes? What about writing in a journal every day for 10 minutes? There are so many options! I can always use my Instagram as a tracker and a way to hold myself accountable. Goal 8: Attend a Book Event

Being a book blogger and admitting this is funny, but I’ve never attended a book event. Okay, other than some midnight releases when Harry Potter was a big deal. I came close earlier this year to attending an author discussion at my local library, but they were fully booked when I went to confirm my attendance. There are many book festivals near me, so I’m not sure why I’ve never attended one.

Goal 9: Attend a Food Event

I’m unsure if this would count, but a few places near me offer English high tea for special occasions (like Mother’s Day). I’ve never been, but I’ve always been curious. Something else that many people may be surprised to learn, but I’ve never attended Oktoberfest. No, I don’t live in Germany, so that may make sense. But I do live minutes from the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside of Germany. I’ve lived here for 16 years and have never attended. But now I don’t think it would be my thing. There are several other food events throughout the year that could be fun to attend.

Before I forget, I have attended several Ribfests over the years and will probably go again over the summer. But I mean something different. Like locally, there’s a Taco and Tequila Fest.

Goal 10: Attend a Sporting Event

I love sports! I am a huge sports nerd. But I am alone in my passion with my family. My husband and daughters can do without watching sports, though my oldest one has tried and sort of keeps up with the NFL. Around two hours from home, I can attend an NHL, NBA, CFL, or MLB game. A bit further out, and I can attend an NFL game. Closer to home, I have access to two minor hockey league teams. So there are options! It just sucks that the majority of the teams close to me are not my favorites. I’d have to head a few thousand miles west to see them. Unless the schedule works out and they play a team close to me.

And that’s ten goals I hope to achieve in 2025. What are some of your goals for the coming year? Did you have any in 2024? How many did you achieve?
