Series I Need to Catch Up On or Finish

Happy Tuesday y’all! How are things in your part of the world? In my part of the world, summer has been trying to make a comeback. But I’m not sure how long that will last. Before we know it, the fluffy white stuff will be here. Hopefully, that means I can get caught up on some reading. This week, Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl is asking us to share the book series we want to start, catch up on, or finish reading. I didn’t think I would have too many series to list, as I’m not usually a series reader. Or so I thought! So let’s check out the series I need to catch up on or finish.

I have only read the first book in the series for many of these. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to read more. One of my issues with keeping up with these series is that I started most of them as audiobooks, and I prefer to stay with the same format if possible. So, I’m holding out hope that my library can get that format. However, I feel I’ll have to either buy the audiobook or read the physical copy. The titles will take you to Goodreads.

Now, let’s look at the ten series I need to catch up on or finish!

Pages & Co by Anna James

This series follows 11-year-old Tilly as she discovers Bookwanderers in her grandparents’ bookstore. She is also trying to discover what happened to her mother, who disappeared shortly after her birth.

I’ve only read the first book, Tilly and the Bookwanderers. The most recent book in the series, The Treehouse Library, was released in September 2022.

Supernatural Investigations by B.B. Alston

• Total Number of Books in Series: 2 published, next one announced

This series follows 13-year-old Amari as she struggles to find out what happened to her brother, Quinton, after he went missing, and no one wants to investigate. She soon finds herself at a summer camp for people with unique abilities.

I’ve only read the first book, Amari and the Night Brothers. The most recent book in the series, Amari and the Great Game, was released in August 2022.

Flavia de Luce by Alan Bradley

This series follows 11-year-old Flavia, who loves chemistry and solving mysteries.

I’ve read the first two books in the series, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie and The Weed That Strings the Hangman’s Bag. The most recent book in the series, The Golden Tresses of the Dead, was released in January 2019.

Legendborn by Tracy Deonn

• Genre: YA. Fantasy
• Release Date of First Book: September 2020
• Total Number of Books in Series: 2

This series follows 16-year-old Bree, who is attending a special high school program at a university while mourning her mother’s death only months prior. She witnesses a magical attack and is unable to have her memories erased. Now she is working to figure out what she saw and what is going on. This is a retelling of the King Arthur legends.

I’ve only read the first book in the series, Legendborn. The most recent book in the series, Bloodmarked, is set to be released in November 2022.

Bakery by Gaile Parkin

• Genre: Contemporary, Women’s Fiction
• Release Date of First Book: August 2009
• Number of Books in Series: 3

This series follows Angel Tungaraza and her family. Rwanda is the setting for the first book, with the others in Swaziland.

I’ve only read the first book in the series, Baking Cakes in Kigali. The most recent book in the series, Kilimanjaro Snow, was released in January 2020,

Class Mom by Laurie Gelman

• Genre: Women’s Fiction, Humor
• Release Date of First Book: August 2017
• Number of Books in Series: 4

This series follows Jen Dixon, the mom of two college-aged daughters and a kindergarten-aged son.

I’ve only read the first book in the series, Class Mom. The most recent book, Smells Like Tween Spirit, was released in August 2022.

Fix-It Witches by Ann Aguirre

This series follows a coven of witches in a small town as they find love.

I’ve only read the first book in the series, Witch Please. The most recent book in the series, Extra Witchy, was released in October 2022.

This series follows Alara Beatty, a woman who has spent her life trying to hold back her psychic abilities. When a co-worker is murdered at work, she finds herself in the middle of the mystery. Along the way, she learns more about her birth family.

I’ve read the first book in the series, Mediums & Murder. The most recent book in the series, Canines & Cacti, was released in June 2022.

A Flower House Mystery by Jess Dylan

This series follows Sierra Ravenswood after she returns home and finds herself running the local flower shop after her boss disappears.

I’ve read the first book in the series, Death in Bloom. The most recent book in the series, Fatal Flowers, was released in May 2022.

Sunshine Vicram by Darynda Jones

• Genre: Mystery
• Release Date of First Book: April 2020
• Number of Books in Series: 3

This series follows Sunshine Vicram after she returns home as the new sheriff. She has her hands full with her new job, her daughter, and her own mysterious past.

I’ve read the first book in the series, A Bad Day for Sunshine. The most recent book in the series, A Hard Day for a Hangover, is expected to be released in December 2022.
