Happy Tuesday, y’all! This week, Jana, over at That Artsy Reader Girl, asks us to share the ten most recent additions to our book collection or TBR. Instead, I decided to share my 2024 Reading Google Map. Who wants to see where I traveled in 2024 through books?

It feels funny to write a book-related post without mentioning any books! Instead, I’m sharing where I traveled through my reading in 2024. I have started my 2025 Google Maps and hope to travel more diversely than in 2024. Last year, I shared my 2023 Reading Google Map; that post is here. In my post last year, I shared the steps of creating my reading maps if anyone is curious.
Overall 2024 Reading Google Map
Below is a screenshot of the entire map. All of those blue pins are where I traveled in 2024. There are 95 pins in total on this map.

Sadly, I didn’t visit Africa, the Middle East, Central America, or South America in 2024. I hope to rectify this in 2025.
North American Stops on the Journey
As you can see below, I made several stops in North America in 2024. I was pleasantly surprised to make two stops in Alaska and one in Hawaii.

I made four stops in the Pacific Northwest, mainly in the Portland and Seattle areas. I managed to find six books in my area of Ontario, Canada. Admittedly, four of those six are in Toronto. Surprisingly, I only made two stops in New York City. I count that as a win for me!
European Stops in 2024
I also made several stops in Europe in 2024. There are a few places I didn’t visit that I hope to get to visit in 2025.

I’m excited to say I got to visit three of the six Nordic countries in 2024, with three stops in Iceland alone. The UK was a popular destination, as was France. Of the seven stops in France, only one is in Paris. I made a surprise stop in Jersey and the Greek Isles.
Asia Stops in 2024
I made four stops in Asia in 2024, and only one was due to a manga.

Australia Stops in 2024
Initially, I was going to label this section Oceania stops, but then I realized I only went to Australia. Whoops! But I did make three stops there. So it still counts, right?

And that’s my 2024 Reading Google Map. Let me know if you want further instructions on creating your reading map. Have you ever made a reading map using Google Maps or any other map? Would you ever do this?

I have never made a reading map, but how cool.
What a fun change of topic. It would be so interesting to see where I travelled to through books although I feel that my 2024 map would look fairly similar to yours! Might save this one for a future rogue day topic if you don’t mind 🙂
I don’t mind you using this idea. It’s quite fun.
Pam
Love this idea! 😀
This is a great topic! I haven’t ever made a map of the places I’ve read about, but I have in the past tracked their location for a chart. (I’m doing that again this year.) I have a lot of fictional settings to my books, though, so that would be interesting to determine how (if) to include those books.
For fictional settings, I try to get it as close to where I believe it is. The same for fantasy. When it comes to the nonfiction I’ve read, if it’s set in a specific area that’s where the pin goes. But if it’s more of a memoir, or a collection of essays, I tend to put the pin where the author is from.
Pam
Very, very clever. So impressed.
This is such a fun idea!
Looks like you visited lots of fun places in 2024! Hope you find more cool stops through reading this year, too. 🙂 Thanks for visiting my list today!
Ooh what a great idea. It sounds like so much fun. It looks like you got to cover a lot of different places too. I’ve read a lot of books inspired by Asian mythology but I’m not sure how many books I’ve actually read set within the continent 🤔 probably not many as most of my reads take place in fantasy worlds 😂
Amazing! I love this. I got my partner to do one for me. I need to do better in my travelling this year!
Have a great week!
I would love to make a reading map! What a fantastic idea!
I keep track of where I’m reading through reading challenges, but I haven’t kept track through Google maps. That’s so much fun to see. I might try to do that.
How exciting that you came to Jersey, that’s where am I!
I got to explore Jersey thanks to Sophie Cousens’ book Just Haven’t Met You Yet.
This is such a cool idea! Also looks like you stopped in my city (Melbourne!)
I was close to Melbourne I believe. While the graphic novel had no set location, I went with the author”s home area.
Pam
I love this! Very clever to have made a reading map. Looks like you might have visited Edinburgh?
I havve Jenny Colgan to thank for the trip to Edinburgh.
Pam
What I cool post! I did the 50 states, and am working my way around the world as the mood strikes. I also would like to do each state in Canada and Australia. I track all of this for fun [yes, I said “fun”–I’m a big nerd! lol).
I started doing this a couple of years ago, because I was curious about where I was traveling.
Pam
This is such a neat idea, Pam! I love seeing all the places you visited in your reading this past year.
So interesting to look at a google map to list where you read. I did do that one year but didn’t keep it up. Well done you.
I try to updated it a few times a month, but it’s not always easy.
Pam
I didn’t even know such a tag existed, but was planning on writing something like this!
Only problem: I mostly read fantasy which is.. in a fantasy world 🤣🤣
Well, so I guess I traveled through fantasy realms quite a lot more than the real world last year. Let’s see how this year turns out! 😂🤞🏼
This is sooo neat! I’m amazed at how well you kept track of the locations and I love how you displayed the locations. I would love to do this!
Woah!! This is one of the coolest topics I’ve seen. Look at how you have the maps and everything!! Very impressive. I would love to do this one day!
What a fun way to keep track of where you read! I keep track of this, too, but just in a list. Maybe I should try a map this year. I’m impressed by how widely you read. My travels are usually concentrated only in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia. I need to diversify for sure. Thanks for the inspo 🙂
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

I think I’ve changed my reading habits a bit on purpose since I’ve started keeping track of where I’ve been. It helps me to read more set in Canada (and not just Toronto and Vancouver), but even different places in the US (besides NYC and LA).
Pam
I would love to do this! Please share how.
When I shared my reading map last year, I shared the steps I used to create my map. You find that here: https://readbakecreate.com/2023-reading-google-map-books-i-read-in-2023/ But I can also write out a how-to post to share.
Pam
What a cool post idea! I love it! Happy Wednesday, Pam!
You certainly were “all over the map” in your reading last year, Pam!
This is such a cool idea! One year, I had a setting category on my reading spreadsheet. I should put it back.
A very fun way to see where your reading took you! I have never done this.
Love this so much! Always interesting to look at settings of books and where they take us. It looks like you stopped by near me in California, haha.
I remember when you posted your map last year, and shared instructions. It’s such a cool idea, and really shows a lot about our reading, including highlighting areas that we might be neglecting. Although I gave up halfway through the year, maybe I should give it another shot. I’m a little jealous of the diverse reading you’ve done in the last year!
This is such a cool idea, Pam. My map wouldn’t be half as cool as yours, but maybe historical time periods would be easier. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog this week.
Oh my gosh, that is so cool — I’ve spent a good 15 minutes so far just studying what your year’s reading journey looked like! In years past I’ve tracked states and countries visited, but I’ve definitely never thought about mapping them out in Google (I didn’t even know that was something you COULD do; pins are a nebulous mystery to me).
I love all the midwest pins. Do you remember what your Minnesota stop was?
My stop in Minnesota was around Minneapolis, the book was Canadian Boyfriend by Jenny Holiday. I actually learned about mapping things on Google because of my oldest daughter. She loved making maps of WWII battles when she was in high school.
Pam
Oh you stopped in the Netherlands I see. What book did you read there?
I read The Betrayal of Anne Frank by Rosemary Sullivan. It was a heart-breaking read.
