Happy Foodie Friday! This week I decided to share a list of Fun Foodie Holidays in December. I know December isn’t here yet, but it soon will be. How else will we celebrate these holidays if we don’t know about them ahead of time? And don’t we need time to prepare?
I’ve always been intrigued by the concept of National months and days. Who creates these holidays? Why do they make them? And most of all, how do they celebrate these days? To celebrate a few of these holidays, I will try to compile posts for the month. That way you can celebrate as well.
I compiled this list of holidays from a much more extensive list over at National Day Calendar. The holidays that are in italics are international celebrations.
National Months in December
It looks like December doesn’t have many month-long food holidays.
National Weeks in December
It appears that there aren’t many weekly food holidays either.
- National Cookie Cutter Week (First Week)
- Gluten-free Baking Week (Week Before Christmas)
National Days in December
It looks like every day in December has some holiday connected to it. Some sound like fun (December 26 Candy Cane Day), while others have me scratching my head (December 4 Rhubarb Vodka Day).

“Who creates these holidays?” Haha I’ve wondered that too! But foodie holidays work for me! I had no idea there were so many of these though. Microwave Oven Day?????? :):)
