Hey, y’all! This week’s book tag is the September edition of the Bookish Would Your Rather post I did in July and August, asking a series of bookish would you rather questions. I found a list over on Hidden in the Stacks that had around 100 WYR questions. And no, I did not use all 100 this week. I will probably go to the list multiple times to generate book tags.

Bookish Would You Rather-September 2021

Would You Rather read only series or only stand-alone novels?

Honestly, if I have to choose only one, it’s no contest. Stand-alone! I struggle with completing a series. I either pick up a book from the middle of a series without knowing it’s part of a series, or I fall in love with the first book and can’t find the next one anywhere.

Would You Rather wait five years for the final installment in a series or get it now, but must read every spoiler before you can start reading it?

As I’m not a huge fan of series, I don’t know which I would prefer. I’m not a huge fan of spoilers, whether it’s a book or a movie. So I guess I would rather wait.

Would You Rather read the last chapter in a book first or watch the movie before reading the book?

Hmmm, this is tough! I read the last chapter of a book before finishing the book, and it allowed me to put it down without feeling guilty. It was a book I wasn’t liking, and the last chapter just solidified that. As to watching the movie before reading the book. I’ve done that as well. Of course, it usually happens when I don’t know a book exists. This predates the internet and all the hoopla around movies.

Okay, so I would have to say, movie. Many times I’ll watch the movie because I don’t think I’ll like the book.

Would You Rather reread your least favorite book monthly or never be able to read your favorite book again?

This question is easy to answer. Why? Because I don’t reread books. I also don’t have just one favorite; who does? So the answer would be never to be able to read my favorite book again.

Would You Rather read in an isolated cabin that was infested with spiders or in a noisy coffee shop with bad music?

Spiders don’t usually bother me. As for reading in a noisy place, I usually can ignore the noise unless it’s directed right at me. Now, if you add in bad music, I’m not sure how I can handle that. Add to that, in the past year or so, I’ve gotten turned off from being around people.

I guess that means I would rather be in the cabin.

Would You Rather have every word of your favorite novel tattooed on your skin or always playing as an audio in the background for the rest of your life?

Again, I don’t have just one favorite book, so how would I know which book would be tattooed on my body or playing as the soundtrack for my life? Either way, I feel like I would start to tune out the book.

Would You Rather read a book that is written poorly but has an excellent story or read one with weak content but is written well?

This question is a tough one. I have DNF books that fit both sides of this coin; I have also enjoyed books on both sides. Nothing is coming to mind either way. Is that bad of me?

Is the story just poorly written? Or is it poorly edited? I feel a poorly written book often needs some editing.

Would You Rather read a book that transports you to the past or in the future?

How far into the future are we talking? Far enough to forget about the current situation?

How far into the past are we talking to be in the before times? That’s what we refer to any time before March 2020. I don’t think I have to explain more.

When we’re time traveling, do we get to keep the knowledge we currently have? Or are we forgetting stuff when we travel?

Would You Rather shop at an actual bookstore or buy online?

I’ve been shopping online over the past 18 months or so. It hasn’t been as enjoyable as walking into an actual bookstore. The online store I’ve been using is great because the books are often much cheaper than the storefront. Of course, the online store doesn’t carry new releases, so that they can offer the books for less.
